I try not to post too much "inside" info if you can even call it that. But I saw something tonight that caught my eye that I don't think my boss will mind me sharing with you board geeks. Tonight I was partaking in some drinks with some of my Orlando posse in the bar of our hotel, when I noticed the team arriving after practice. (They went straight to practice after we landed) Then, no joke 45 minutes to and hour later Coach Cannales walks in with JB. Those 2 and Bayno regularly work out together. Bayless stuck around and extra hour after everybody else went back to the hotel. This cat is a workaholic! Can't have nothing but love for that kind of work ethic. Hope it shows on this road trip, we'll need it!
So, basically, he went to a different bar than you for the first few drinks, and then pretended to be arriving from practice? Yes, we see. barfo
I've heard he is an absolute gym rat but this is impressive...With his athletic ability there is no way he doesn't become a great player if he continues to work like this.
I'll go ahead and jump on this one before MARIS can: If he's staying after for so long it must mean he's a slow learner ...
I hope he spends a ton of his extra practice time on his shooting. When he develops a consistent jumper he's going to be a beast. Good to hear.
I don't think Bayless should be starting quite yet. As he gets more comfortable playing with Roy I think he will be our starter, maybe even this season. I also think he would be miles ahead of where he is if he wasn't treated like a late 2nd rounder.
I agree. For now, I think he'll revel in the 'energizer bunny' role. Less pressure, better situation to develop and refine his overall game.........without the (self-imposed?) pressures that come with starting. All in due time, though.
Not surprising. And thank you for letting us know about this. I have always thought Jerryd was a very hard worker. And he has certainly earned a shot at some PT. In college he was a good shooter. Thus far, since becoming a pro he has not been very good at hitting the jumpshot. This, of course, has made his offensive game one dimensional. Once opponents figured that out, they were able to control him. From all accounts he has worked his rear off to get his shot right....something most of the better players in the league have had to do at one time or another. Although I would still call him unproven at this point, he is a nice player and I look forward to seeing him improve and play an important role with our team.
Good news, but in my mind this should pretty much be standard, especially for younger players. These guys play fucking basketball for a living...if it was me, I'd never leave the Gym also.
This is a very good sign. For instance, Kobe (boooooo Kobe) never really stops working out. His whole house is filled with workout gear so pretty much every minute of the day he can work out. The only way to attain that elite level of performance, is to put in the work.
Anyone who follows the team should not be surprised. Every article or blurb about him since Day 1 has mentioned his great work ethic. What is disappointing is that it wasn't Miller who worked extra. Or Howard. Or Martell. Or Steve, who has a reputation for putting in extra time. Or Roy, who keeps talking about it. ...
