fan are always hysterical. the bulls have a solid foundation with the third best young point guard in the league in derrick rose and arguably the best rebounder and shot blocker in the league in noah. so u have two young studs right now. now the hard work of buttressing this young core. well u have cap room and i expect the second tier of free agents to be had very cheap because everyone will be chasing bron, wade, bosh, joe johnson, and amare. so expect carlos boozer to fall through the cracks because of his injury concerns, although, he's arguably better than amare and just a notch behind bosh. so i think u can sign boozer for something like 5 years and 45 million- thats a very reasonable contract. then i would target rudy gay who has rejected every memphis offer thus far and u have the resources to do a s&t with them (i.e. a probable lottery pick, young players like taj gibson, james johnson). then u sign jamaal crawford for the mle who im certain atl will let go because they will tie up major resources in joe johnson, extending horford in the future and they have jeff teague who reminds many of a young crawford. so here's your roster in my scenario pg: rose, hinrich sg: salmons, crawford sf: gay, deng pf: boozer, gibson c: noah -the only player who might be difficult to acquire in that scenario is rudy gay but u would still have the lottery pick which u could easily leverage in some other scenario to get u that slashing scorer.
if we sign both Boozer and Gay his off-season and still have Noah and Rose, I will admit I have been too hard on the Bulls.
That's a winner, or at least a giant step in the right direction. We'd have Gasol, Gordon, Salmons, Rose, Noah, and near enough cap space to sign a full-boat FA.
yeah my bad, u guys are right- u dont have cap space to sign both. so i guess u have to move hinrich's contract which will have two more years on it with the probable lottery pick and taj gibson. i dont think memphis would take the bait but i think many organizations would accept that package (e.g. golden state with monta).
If you sign Gay you need to move Deng since they are both SF's. The question is who could you get for Deng? But I am positive you could get Gay for less than Deng and Memphis wouldn't match. If you could tie up Memphis in a Gay extension and then sign Gasol that would be the real trick. But Gasol has another year before he can sign an extension, right?
gasol? not really impressed with his game. he's a workhouse inside with the few assets he has but defensively he's terrible with his poor lateral quicks and lack of jumping ability
Gasol was rumored available for Deng at the time he was traded to LA. That's when we would have gotten him. There's no way he's signing anywhere else, IMO, than LA again.
Nobody here was talking about Marc Gasol, we were talking about what could have been with the same financial restraints.
You are really wrapped up in your own little world, aren't you. Since I was the one who brought up Gasol in the context of signing Gay, I am pretty certain we were talking about Marc Gasol.
My bad, we've talked all along about how poor the Bulls' personnel choices have been all along, and not trading Deng for Gasol was one of them.
