He's Damon or he's nobody, almost a carbon copy.

I mean that as a sincere compliment, Mighty Mouse was a great player IMO, and I only hope Jerryd can live up to the comparison over time.

West averaged 9.7 APG on that great 71-72 Lakers team (and 9.5 APG the year before and 8.8 APG the year after). He was definitely the main distributor on that team. The offense went through him even though he was the bigger of the two guards and a great scorer himself (like Roy).

Goodrich wasn't s athletic as Bayless (no dunks for Stumpy), but he had that same scorer's mentality, attacked teh defense and got to the FT line (abut 7 FTA/G during his prime). Like Bayless, he was a tweener - too short to guard SGs, but not a "pure" PG. That's why he worked so well paired with Jerry West. It let Goodrich guard smaller PGs on defense, but focus on his own scoring, not running the offense on the other end.

Since Roy is most comfortable with the ball in his hands, I see a similar dynamic developing. Bayless guards the other team's PG, Roy runs the offense and Bayless focuses on his own scoring more than setting up his teammates. It would seem to maximize the talents of both players, while not exposing their weaknesses by forcing them out of their comfort zones.

It's hard to imagine how Stoudamire would've played if he'd been a few inches taller - because those few inches made a world of difference. But in terms of the quick first step and fearlessness about shooting, Bayless and Stoudamire share that.

I don't see the Kevin Johnson comparison. KJ could certainly shoot, but he was much more of a pure point guard than Bayless. I mean for four straight seasons, Johnson averaged better than 10 assists. I don't see Bayless' style of play ever leading to that. He's too much of a scorer.

I think the Steve Francis comparison isn't that far off, frankly. He scored like KJ, with close to 20 ppg in his prime, but his assists were more like 5 or 6 a game, than 10 or 11. Francis was also pretty relentless about driving to the rack when he was healthy, same as I'd hope to get from Bayless. On defense, Francis was pretty strong, and therefore hard to post up, and he'd get his share of steals and rebounds (for a PG). If Bayless develops to have Francis's ability (and numbers), and not his attitude, I'd be ecstatic.

If Damon was as tall as Jerryd, he would have been a perennial all star.

I don't see much of anything in Jerryds game that reminds me of Damon.

Don't waste your time trying to figure this one out. Jerryd Bayless' playing style has more in common with Amare Stoudemire's than Damon Stoudamire's.

You don't know me any more than you know basketball, which is nearly not at all.

It's okay to be less observant or less knowledgeable than another poster, or even to be blinded by hate. I've gotten used to that with your posts.

I don't take your attacks seriously, as I know they are rooted in insecurity and impotence.

That was/is clear to you, me and most fans at the time. How come Damon never figured it out? He could get to the rim almost at will, (after dribbling the clock down to four seconds), but he was a terrible finisher. Bayless is good at finishing at the rim.

Have had you on ignore for most of the season (the board is so more vibrant without your negative vibes, baiting, and personal attacks), but thought I'd check to see if you had grown up yet.

    Same old Boob. :tsktsk:

Funny... I also had you (and the other self-obsessed drama queen) on ignore and was starting to enjoy the forum again. Then all of sudden your posts started coming through again. I have no idea by all, but you're going back on ignore where you belong.

So, my final message to you is: please enjoy ignoring me as much as I will enjoy ignoring you. Responding to you is a complete waste of time. I know your game and the way you post stupid, idiotic comments you don't even believe just to get a response. You're like the Bill Walton (the commentator, not the player) of this forum, but at least Bill's outlandish statements and delivery were hilarious. Yours are just pathetic.

I hope he turns into Fat Lever - the Swiss Army Knife of PGs. Fat could score, distribute, even rebound...whatever the team needed at that moment. In terms of drive/attitude, the two are similar - though Bayless obviously has a long way to go.

Trading Fat for Kiki was on the same level as the Jermaine for DD deal.
