Have you ever had a moderator who has access to your IP address personalize an avatar toward you? One in which they are aiming a gun at the camera?

See, that's funny. Nate did take down the avatar.

I doubt moderators have access to the IPs, but Denny most certainly does along with the possibility of the producers.

Keep the sucker talking, Papa. The Neck sez he's watching on his computer in his seedy flat in Brooklyn. When he says roll the guy with the lawsuit gab, I'll give you the signal. Remember, we all 3 split the loot 50-50.

I'm positive the mods have access to IPs. Hence the weirdness of Nate Bishop's infatuation with me.

Re: That was the worst performance by a starting PF in the history of our franchise.

Why does every thread he participates in devolve into a self-pity party for PapaG?

I have him on ignore for this very reason, but others feel the need to quote his totally off-topic whining. So, here in a thread about poor power forward performance I get to read about someone posting a photo of themselves holding a BB gun. Great.

What the fuck does that have to do with LaMarcus Aldridge's performance tonight and why is it being discussed in this thread? (and if you read this PapaG - that's called a rhetorical question - it doesn't require a response.... no, really, it doesn't.... seriously... but, you'll probably respond anyway, because it's ALWAYS about YOU, no matter what the topic of the thread.)

PapaG is alright. Ever had a screamer in the house? Just put on your earplugs and weather the situation. He'll come down from his adrenaline high if everyone soothes him. Just purr to him and rub his stomach.

Re: That was the worst performance by a starting PF in the history of our franchise.

IP addresses aren't as useful in tracking you down and killing you as you seem to think.

    There are three possibilities:
    1) Your IP address is registered to you personally (pretty rare, for an individual)
    2) You are posting from work and your IP address is registered to your employer (less rare).
    3) Your IP address is registered to your Internet service provider (the vast majority of cases).

In the first case, your IP address might tell someone exactly who you are. In the second case, someone could learn where you work but not who you are. In the third case, they can learn what ISP you use, but nothing else.

Unless, of course, they also have access to the ISP's records. In that case, they could identify the account owner, which would likely be you or a family member or your employer.

In summary, you need to be less afraid of mods, and more afraid of your ISP.

Werd. If I didn't just rep BNM in another thread, I'd do it again here. He's on a roll.

As for PapaG . . . it's late at night and PapaG is posting contentiously yet again . . . it's just like every other night here. That's why I previously proposed that we all just vacate the board from 11pm to 2am and just let him argue with himself (and, in the process, find out how many times/hour he can use the :dunno: emoticon)!!!

I guess I should add to this that law enforcement agencies do have access to your ISP's records, either via subpoena or via patriot-act type spookage, so it wouldn't be a good idea to assume you are completely anonymous even if we mods can't show up at your house to kill you. [This postscript is not directed at PapaG, but rather anyone who could have been misled by my post into thinking they are posting truly anonymously].

    Kind Moderator,

While I appreciate your desire to share information and your efforts to be complete, is there any way all of the posts in this thread concerning fictitious and perceived threats of bodily harm can somehow be moved to the OT section - perhaps in a thread that already exists there? They have NOTHING to do with the topic of this thread (poor Blazer power forward performance), or Blazers basketball in general and only clutter up the discussion.

I'm not calling you out or blaming you for this tangent. You were merely responding to another poster who has an irresistible urge to make himself the subject of every thread he joins. I'd prefer that this thread remain on topic and the other business go in a place where other business is properly discussed - the OT forum.

    Thanks,
    BNM

I guess it could have been pointed at him if he was laying on the ground :dunno:

Meh, I took the avatar down because I was asked nicely. Personally I would have left it up so everyone could see what the big deal was about, but it was causing a ruckus so it was removed and replaced with the much better interpretation that you see today.

He will seriously milk this forever though. It will be mentioned ad nauseum. Let the hyperbole continue!
