Okay, I was thinking about this and I want to hear what you guys have to say. Which backcourt is better? Which one would you rather have playing for your team? I don't know if this has been done before, but oh well.Wizards:Butler, Arenas, and Jamison.Nets:Jefferson, Kidd, and Carter.

The backcourt would be just Butler and Arenas or Kidd and Carter. It's even further off because Jamison plays the 4 spot. I would say even further off but Butler is just starting at the 3 for the playoffs.
He's talking about a Backcourt of a point guard, a shooting guard, and a small forward. This is no contest, New Jersey wins, but I think that Antawn did play PF all year.Pistons and Warriors should be considered in this too. What were you thinking when you made this?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheAnalyst @ Apr 29 2006, 11:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Butler doesnt play guard at all. He played the 3 all year.</div>Come to think of it ya, it's been Daniels and Jefferies. There were only a handful of games that Butler played the 2.

What were you thinking when you made this?</div>Yeah, that is what I ment. Jamison and Jefferson like to play more like a guard than a foward in their playing style at times. They aren't a typical foward. So I stuck them in the back court. What I was think was, I am comparing the Wizards and Nets, not Warriors and Pistons. I didn't want to see who everyone thought was the best backcourt in the NBA, just which backcourt was better here. Actually, this isn't a bad comparision. Jason Kidd compared to ArenasJefferson compared to JamisonCarter compared to ButlerBut we are comparing how they work together here, not on individual performance.I guess I will break down the stats for you guys from the playoffs of Just Jefferson, Kidd, Carter and Arenas, Jamison, and Butler:After three games.<u>Wizards - Nets</u>68 - Rebounds - 56188 - Points - 17916 - Steals - 1222 - Assists - 53I think this is a tougher decision than you guys are making it out to be. Sure the Nets backcourt have a lot of hype, but I think you guys are underrating the Wizard's compared to them. Butler is a great defender, Kidd is also a good defender, but Kidd can't guard some of the guys that Butler has to guard. The great thing about Jefferson is that he can play like a 2 or a 4 at times, Jamison is a 4 that can play like a 3. Jefferson can't play low post defense like Jamison can. Both Jefferson and Jamison shoot threes and try to. Carter and Arenas are both great scorers, but so far Arenas has been out scoring Carter by just a little. The Nets are a better passing team, but the Wizards play more physical and can out rebound the Net's backcourt. There is more to this comparison that meets the eye.
Stats aren't everything, and look at the the team records. Wizards have the five seed, Nets have three. I would take NJ any day.
Jamison has been playing the 3 in the playoffs. He is guarding LeBron and Jeffries has been guarding Gooden. But Nets definitely. And to whoever said Butler plays the 3 most of the time, get your facts straight. Butler starts at the 2-guard.

That's what Eddie Jordan's lineup right now is.
According to the original post I am going to go with Washington. Gilbert is the best player out of both teams backcourt so i will go with Washington
Nets. By far. Kidd is more of a true PG than Arenas, and VC is one of the best scorers in league. They are a pretty killer duo.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nba dogmatist @ May 1 2006, 07:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>then explain to me why Jeffries, a "2-guard" is guarding Drew Gooden.</div>I see your point but he is listed at the 2. Anyways I think I would take the the Wizards backcourt. Arenas is so explosive and can also get his teamates involved. Gosh that is hard to say though because Kidd's court vision is amazing. I take that back I am gonna go with a tie here. I think the other half of the backcourts are pretty even, the Wizards 2 be it Butler or Jefferies is more defensive minded and Carter is offensive minded, hard to compare the two. Tie.
i love our backcourt but the wizards backcourt is higher scoring than new jerseys. kidd is getting older but still plays great but i'll go with the wizards on this one because they're great.
Who cares if they score more then your backcourt?Jason Kidd is a top notch defender and the best basketball IQ in the League. He is arguably the #1 pg in the League.Kidd>Arenas right now.Carter is very explosive, he can finish with an alley oop if you just throw it anywhere near the rim. He can drive on you and finish well in flight. He is a streaky shooter but when he gets on he WILL drill it in your face.Carter>Butler.End of story. Thankyou.
i wouldn't say Kidd is better than Arenas right now, i wouldn't give either player the edge. Arenas is a formidable defender, and he can score 30 ppg. He is one of the strongest, fastest guards in the league. He gets to the line and gets his opponents in foul trouble. In a head-to-head match up, i would pick Arenas to be more effective. If Arenas was more consistent, he'd have a large edge, but we have to remember he is only like 24 (not sure, he might be a little older).
Arenas isnt a very good defender. Sure, he scores a ton but he has pretty court vision and some could say he is a ball hog for a pg. Kidd finds his whole team nice looks and runs the Nets offense. He is a main part of the reason his team went on that huge streak. He is such a good passer it is unbelievable. He sees the whole court like he has 12 eyes.Butler on the other hand is a decent physical defender and an offensive threat from long range and inside but Carter is just such an athlete. He can finish over people, slam home alley oops, knock down jumpers, drive in for an acrabatic finish. When he gets hot he can go for 40. That is unrealistic for Caron Butler.
