Yep I'm off the bandwagon. Watching about 10 mins of the Warriors v. Wizards tonight and the Warriors are simply unwatchable. Curry has 17 at halftime and the only shot he gets in the first 6 mins of the 3rd is a pull up because no one passes him the ball. Meanwhile Maggette has no problem jacking up a jumper from 22 ft and Monta hits the backboard from straight away, Morrow is even part of the problem now trying to get in on the action. Randolph? He simply looks pained and disinterested. He's gone. He's going all out on the plays where he's going to get something on the score sheet, a rebound, a bucket, a block, something. Otherwise, he's not doing little things like rotating and challenging shots (without getting a block). You know if you put Curry with a team of Murphy and Dunleavy it would be more watchable, at least the ball would be moving.
I'm losing interest in the team, too, so I thought about: 1. When is Cohan Jr. taking over the team? Yeah, the lil punk and his father that Warriors fans booed mercilessly at the all-star game when it came to Oaktown for the first and last time. That was truly a Warriors fans moment. It brings a tear to my eye just writing this. 2. Stephen Curry IS better than Brandon Jennings or Tyreke Evans and should be leading the ROY race, but he didn't play enough minutes (currently he's ranked # 4 on nba.com rookie rankings). BTW here's what it says in his blurb, "According to Marcus Thompson of the Contra Coast Times, the Warriors have put all their players on the trading block -- including Curry. It's surprising since the Warriors turned down an offseason trade that would have landed them Amar'e Stoudemire in order to get Curry. Still, with Curry getting better with each game it shows how desperate the Warriors have become. In four games this week, Curry padded his stats by averaging 13.2 points and 3.0 steals in 32.7 minutes per game." 3. Did Stephen Jackson actually say after the Warriors lost to the Kings, "We have the ROY with us tonight and there he is -- Tyreke Evans."? 4. Don Nelson will finally get his record all-time NBA coaching record in 2012 after he wrangles another contract extension. Somewhere Doc Kajita and Cohanhater will celebrate. 5. I've become a member of the Corey Maggette fan club. He plays like I would if I were on the Warriors. Except I'd feel guilty after launching those badly timed jumpers at the worst moment and getting booed by the hometown fans. Corey Maggette doesn't. How awesome is that? 6. Pick up Warrior players for fantasy league after they leave the team. Drop Warrior players who just arrived on the team. 7. Yep I'm off the bandwagon.
It's better to enjoy the holidays than kill ourselves watching tuuurrible, tuuurrible basketball by the Warriors. If the warriors should s-can everybody from top to bottom, I say get rid of their athletic trainer, too. Every year we have a gajillion injuries. Either players are faking it, or the athletic trainer is doing some sht! Tom: "Andris! Good job on the squats. Okay, now lock your knees and put more of your back into it! Thatta boy!"
Let's see what the roster looks like after the trade deadline. I'm hoping they find a way to dump Magette. I didn't anticipate a > 30 win season. If the team happens to hold on to the Anthonies and Monta without adding too much back in long-term salary, I consider this season a success. The reason I say this, is the team will look VERY attractive to someone to buy. I think we should start "Sell-The-Team!" chants at every game from this point forward. We need to get some of the columnists to pick this up, and get it on KNBR to see if we can have it every game until Cohan sells.
It's not much of a bandwagon anymore -- formerly known as the "We Believe" bandwagon . It would be easier to replace Nelson with Smart . I'd keep Mags unless we can replace 16.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.0 apg and +15.68 efficiency rating. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/corey_maggette/index.html
Efficiency rating? I'm old school, I don't need a stat sheet to tell me what I'm seeing when I watch Maggette. That guy is horrible. He simply does not make his teammates better, that much is obvious.
Thank god I haven't been able to catch any games lately. On the bright side I'm watching Kentucky now and John Wall would be nice. Then again we'd just draft a Euro big man...
I know what you're saying, and I did not say Mags made his teammates better. He's a lot like Al Harrington and that he's better coming off the bench to give the team's offense a shot in the arm. He's not starter material, but there's a place for him somewhere coming off the bench. If Corey's hot, then we go with him. If he's cold, then he goes back on the bench. At least, Corey gets to the line and even if his FG% is lousy, he can rack up some points.
Magette's only value is getting to the lane in a game when the team is settling for jumpshots. Now that he's settling for jumpshots, he's worthless to this team. There are plenty of other players that can shoot better than him on this team
