Utah trades Maynor and Harpring to OKC for essentially nothing. Salary dump for Utah, OKC basically buys the services of Manynor in the form of paying for Harpring the rest of the season.

I guess the Livingston experiment did not work for them. Sad to see, for him.

On the other side of the story, what the hell is Utah doing with no backup for Deron? They are one tweaked knee from getting 2 lottery tickets this year. There is maybe another trade brewing, or, I guess the poison offer for Millsap worked...

Wow... Maynor is a pretty nice player, too. And for nothing.. ouch. Just add another nice young piece to OKC's squad.

One has to wonder if they aren't completely sold on Westbrook. He's a fantastic athlete, and pretty good defender, but his propensity for turnovers, his janky jumper, and even a fairly poor ability to finish at the rim (only 52% close to the rim and gets blocked about 20% of the time) while not being a true playmaker might have the Thunder rethinking their long term plans with him manning the show.

Then again, Peter Fehse is legit. I think. 2nd-rounder in 2002...SINANOVIC TRADE IS POTENTIALLY IN PLAY! * Get it done, KP!

    * Just kidding...I think that we had to renounce Nedzad's rights for the Cap Space 2009. I think.

I doubt it has much to do with Westbrook. They had a great opportunity to add talent for nothing. Why not? I understand Roy is viewed differently than Westbrook, but after one season with him, we acquired a guy at his position for essentially nothing, in Rudy. It would have been absurd at the time for people to speculate that maybe we weren't sold on Roy. Harpring is out for the season, insurance will pick up 80% of his deal after 41 games. Figure Utah has already paid about 30% of his salary for the year, meaning there is 4,550,000 left. I figure about 2.6 to end up being covered by insurance. So they spent less than 2 million to basically buy a draft pick in the 20s.

If this is the case, they are getting into Portland territory, how to find minutes for Westbrook, Harden, Maynor and whatever other guards they keep on adding.

I like Maynor as well, but he is not likely to be anything more than a backup PG in the league. I think that they just had an opportunity to upgrade poor Livingston for a song, so they went for it. Nothing much to lose, for them, in this case, since they are not contending this year, and Harping is an expiring.

They will have the cap space again at the end of the year. They are not ready to contend this year, and maybe, they can use that cap-space near the draft to get some kind of an interior/post presence.

Outlaw/Blake at least have similar trade value to Harpring.

I'm just waiting for the first jerk-weed to curse KP for not getting this deal done . . . because we're thin at the point guard position. That fuckin' KP can't do shit, I tell ya.

Maynor is going to be a damn good point guard. He has a place as a starter in this league for sure. Not sure what Utah is doing on this one, counting on Ronnie Price as your backup?

I don't think there will be many guys who pipe up to say we need to trade our expiring contracts for a shooting PG.

that said, it shows that there is talent available for cash purposes. Even in intra-division trades.

I'm still kind of hoping a little for a Przy/Rudy for Kevin Love and other stuff deal. Looking at this Murphy rumor, the following works

    Rudy/Przy/Outlaw to MIN
    Blount/Blake to IND
    Murphy/Love/Brewer to POR
