Well, he got his first 2 points in his NBA start against the Mavs. I guess we will be seeing him more against the Spurs and on Xmas day with Joel Out. He only got 3.5 minutes of play but I assume we might see him more in play versus Denver on Friday?
True that Schilly. My bad about him playing against the Spurs. I hope they start practicing drills in the morning with him before the Spurs game. He didn't get that much playing time so I couldn't see what he could do.
He looked good to me. I just watched it again (Tivo) He was active. He got called for two fouls, the 1st one was right when he entered the game - Dallas went to Dampier and I thought JP had a clean block but they called a foul. His 2nd foul he was a little aggressive on a screen and got called for an offensive. He got his hands on a couple of potential offensive rebounds but couldn't come down with them. And of course he had a dunk on an assist from Blake. I was watching him under the basket and he's really strong. I think he gave up an offensive rebound to Dampier b/c he mistimed his jump - he didn't get outmuscled at all. Not much you can see in 4 minutes, but what I liked what I saw. I'm excited to see this guy. I just wish it was backing up LA at PF, not having to play Center.
He looks great to me! He is a bruiser. He will get in there and fight. Big body too. 6'9'' 240. Just as big as Howard but 18 years younger.
I am totally psyched. I missed last night's game and didn't know he played until I checked the box score. Totally tivoing tonight's game so I don't miss Jeff again.
Heres Oden, Przy and Pendergraph shooting together back on Dec 4th. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Gs38ufT-Gw
Pendergraph has a good jumper and is knowledgable about playing pick and roll basketball. He will be fine. The main thing will be getting him used to the speed of the game, and getting used to being shafted for being a rookie. Remember he was drafted for his nasty side. Something the team needs badly.
Never watched that one before. Greg missed exactly one jumper in that vid. Wish we would've seen a few more of those from him during the season.
I thought Pendergraph looked solid. He does not back down. He is more than serviceable. Certainly no stiff out there. Dante showed a lot of hustle tonight too.
Watching this game again, I actually really like Pendergraph as a backup big man. He's not going to give you low-post scoring, but he has real good fundamentals with setting picks, boxing out, getting boards, has good hands and can finish at the rim. And he brings a nasty streak, which is something this team needs. I thought he had a pretty slight frame at ASU, but he has good bulk on his body. I'm a big fan, and am looking forward to him getting a chance to play.
Right now I can see him as a backup; but I will want to see more of him to determine if he is going to be starter caliber.
I liked what I saw. He ALWAYS boxed out his man and played solid defense. He has a high basketball IQ and you gotta love that he got in McDyess' face. His size/skill set, I think he could be a young Jawan Howard type of player down the road.
I was really happy with what I saw out of Pendergraph yesterday. Did nothing great, but nothing bad. With a healthy Greg, i think he's a solid fit for 15-20 minutes of backup C time. Just a big physical body to come in and bang against people. I hadn't seen him much incollege, so didn't know entirely what to expect. He looks more physical than I thought he would be. He'll probably get us into a few more skirmishes we otherwise would have avoided, but he'll also be a great enforcer type on the bench. I love seeing kids come in and not be intimidated by veterans. Love seing him battling with Duncan and McDyess, and not just backing down because it's his second game ever. I think as he works into shape, he's easily our backup C for the remainder of the season, and with everyone else healthy, I can deal with that.
Agreed he looks good. Guy looks like he knows whats what on the court, and plays with no fear. Not bad for his first few games. IMO Jeff has the potential to be a top tier backup.
