    Brad Miller: Trade on Tap?

Update: The Chicago Bulls blog speculates that Miller, who was benched along with John Salmons(notes) by head coach Vinny Del Negro to start the second half in the Bulls’ 88-81 loss to the Knicks Tuesday, could possibly be traded to Portland to replace the injured Joel Pryzbilla.

Recommendation: On the floor, Miller, who put up another 0-fer Tuesday, though in just 13 minutes with three shots, now has made just one shot in the last four games and is 1-for-15 in that stretch in 79 minutes played. With Tyrus Thomas(notes) on the verge of coming back and Taj Gibson(notes) along with James Johnson(notes) available to play the four, Miller’s time should and is likely limited. Portland is now without Pyyzbilla and Greg Oden(notes) and will need to acquire a big man, which could be Miller or Samuel Dalenbert, possibly for the expiring contracts of Steve Blake(notes) and Travis Outlaw(notes).

Brad Miller and not BG is the biggest loss from last season. Not only can he not hit a shot, but the better teams are cheating off of him to stop penetration. Teams are daring him to shoot and he's killing the bulls.

i dont see how 15 shots in 4 games is killing the bulls seeing as how they have gone 2-2. better than their season record of 10-17.

not to mention he was a +12 in the kings game.

    that said, he sucks hard.

+12. Either it was a fluke, or he's the guy they should play more to save the season. Since you think he sucks too, I'm going to go with fluke and point out that he was +12 in his first six minute stint. He was 0 for the rest of the game and -6 in his three minutes in the 4th. Last year his PER was 18.6, this year it's 10.9. That's a huge drop off and even more troubling since he's missing wide open shots.

The curious thing is why isn't Miller motivated? He's in a contract year and he could easily sign a smaller deal and stay in Chicago next year, or head over to Milwaukee or Indiana if he wanted. It'd be less than the MLE, but he's going to have to beg for the veterans minimum from anybody at the rate he's going now.

Why play your old ass off for a shitty team that's not committed to winning?

Miller sucked for the Kings, who were a shitty team that's not committed to winning, too. When we push for the playoffs and give Boston all they can handle, he puts up an 18.6 PER.

Anyhow, the proposed trade would be something like Salmons and Miller to Portland for Blake, Outlaw (both expiring), and either Joel or Andre Miller.

How ironic if this deal went through and we downgraded Gordon for Blake or Miller. Though we actually could use one of them so our guards would only suck slightly less.

His PER was over 15 for the Kings when he was traded, iirc. Don't need another point guard and don't need another scoring point with at least another year on his contract. Why would the bulls take back salary? I could see them doing it for three expirings, and it might be a chance to shed salary for another trade later where the bulls get room not to go into the luxury tax this year. But there is no way they take on Andre Miller right now unless they trade Hinrich at the very least. I could see Outlaw, Bayless, Blake and Miller for Hinrich and Miller. Not sure Portland would do that though and it doesn't work on the trade machine.

The beauty of this deal is we'd get to add a third backup PG with a PER under 10. We have a pretty nice collection going now. Our starting SG has a nice PER of 11 at least.

See the quote I just unearthed.

I think Miller to the Blazers would be difficult to do without taking back longer salary, which would be pretty silly for the Bulls.
