Question: does insurance pay an injured player's salary? And if so, would that make injured players with expiring contracts doubly enticing to teams with cheapskate owners who only intermittently care about winning (like the Clippers and the Hornets)?

I think they have to be injured and miss 41 games. That's what it was with Raef. And Mcgrady as well, i believe. Then there's something about how many games actually have to be with the team he wa sinjured on. So I don't think insurance would pick up a ton. Although, if he was severely injured, it would pick up next season's deal, whcih could be very valuable.

These are all David Lee trades: i have posted most of them before but added one with Jeffries included.

Trades that would work salary-wise and might be acceptable to both teams:

    1. Lee and Milicic for Miller, Outlaw, Pendergraph and Howard.

New York would do this if they thought that Miller and Outlaw would work great in their system. They might not want to take Miller because he has another year after this but for some reason they don't have to take nearly as much salary back as they give out on this trade so maybe it doesn't hurt them much.

    2. Lee and Curry for Miller, Outlaw, Webster, Pendergraph and Howard.

I think this is a little more salary neutral for them since Curry's contract is so big.

    3. Lee and milicic for Blake, Outlaw Webster and Pendergraph.

This is if they like Blake better than Miller, they would have to take back Webster's three years but the trade is unbalanced so they take back a lot less salary on a one year basis.

Of course we could throw in a first round draft pick on any of these trades and probably would need to, and our pick may be percieved as getting more valuable as we lose players.

    4. Lee and Jeffries for Miller, Outlaw and Pendergraph, and I’d throw in our first round draft pick if I had some assurance from Lee’s agent that he would sign with us longterm. Jeffries is long and very good defender, averages 2+ steals and 1+ block a game

This one is almost money neutral so NY does it if they think it gives them more flexibility as far as talent in the future, and they have to like Miller and Outlaw and think Lee would not resign with them under any circumstances.
