Ya know I just think its kinda funny how I always get called out for being negative and how I have no faith in the team but reading posts on here the last few days regarding playoff hopes.... Im a bit surprised. We just come off our best stretch (of beating quality teams) yet its seems more posters think we have less of a chance compared to when we were losing to the Knicks.

It also feels like the majority want a trade for a big man AND a SF. Thats something Ive said for months... hell a year (SF) but now we go beat some great teams on their home court and now we arent making the playoffs. Im not gonna sit here and tell you I know teh Blazers are making the playoffs but we have 20 wins and a good chance to end December with 22. That would mean we would need about 25-27 wins from January to April to get in IMO. The West is much more balanced. Sac, Grizz, OKC, can beat you on any given night. With that said... assuming we add a big man.... roy and la have to prove they can carry us to the playoffs. If Roy is a "superstar" he should be able to get us an 8 seed at very worst. Anyway im just kinda surprised there's more doubt now then there was when we were losing to teams like the knicks.

my best guess would be because we had at least 1 center and someone defending the paint at the time.

its also saying you dont think we can win 28 games from now till april. that would be pretty bad on our part.

no not regardless... I'm just saying that a valid reason for having more doubt now would be.. that at least we had a solid big who could defend down low. I understand why some would have more doubt now than before he went down.

thats why your gm makes a deal.

you canT throw away a 20-12 start just cause you are afraid to deal

Who knows maybe Nate is secretly the best small ball coach in the world, but without any beef in the middle eventually teams are going to exploit that advantage. The playoffs look like a fifty-fifty proposition to me right now. The last few games feel more emotion driven than is probably sustainable for another 50 games.

You are at least partially right however, this is Roy and LA's chance to prove they can 'carry' a team. And for that to happen we'll need LA to play like an all-star to go along with Brandon's star turn.

I am curious though, last year you said there was no way this team could have made the playoffs without a trade and that was when they were fully healthy, now they are down to the bottom third of their roster and minus their two legit centers and you think it will be underachieving if they don't get back. What changed for you?

i think this team plays better when players know their roles. also roy, la, and oden donT play well together. dont know if they ever will. this current group has bonded. and i think as long as they win their home games, make a decent trade, and sqeak out a few road wins... we will be ok.

7-8 seed at best though. what scares me is our april scedule. if we are in a tight race with someone... we might be screwed. april is brutal. but i do feel 47-48 gets u the 7-8 this year. maybe 46.

which means 27 more wins from now till april. very do-a-ble.

Perhaps, but we really haven't seen what teams with some time to scout us will do to exploit our softness in the middle.

Of course you're going to get something right every once in awhile, especially when you complain about every little thing...

You gets called out for making ridiculous predictions, like saying the team wouldn't make the playoffs last year without a trade. That and making really dumb posts like, "Juwan SUCKS!!1!", and "Jerryd has been exposed as crap." Do you think we would have won all these games without sucky Juwan and crap Jerryd?

    Which center?

What do the Blazers give up?

    Who is available?

Will they be any better than Juwan Howard at center?

    Make a deal!!! :sigh:

Yep, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

All seriousness aside, I also think the Blazers should trade for a Center. As it stands, I'd like that trade to include Miller. Considering his contract terms, though, not so certain that's a reasonable request on my part.

    Absolutely.

Seems to me there are going to be some match-ups that no amount of scrappiness will overcome. And as teams get a better read on what The Blazers are doing they will get better at exploiting our obvious weaknesses. It's going to be a really interesting season to watch this unfold. I for one am excited and interested to see it!

Heres Mixums topic title Ok so we know Howard sucks,Webster sucks... can we just get cunningham over with.
Yes, Mixums pessimism almost at his best. Howard is getting quicker because hes getting more minutes and has posted two double doubles the last two games. He's trying to get his players pumped up from the bench as he is standing up and yelling at him. Isn't this a good thing?
