I didn't see a thread for either game, and I'm like..."WHAT?!" Batman has been probably the game I have enjoyed the most this year, but I'm a HUGE Batman nut. (I spent the summer buying Vol. 1-4 of the 1992 Animated Series with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, and preceded to watch it all...twice, recently bought Mask of the Phantasm, same voice actors [the best ones imo] and still looking to buy more) I also just finished reading the completed 2-part Hush storyline, just amazing. And Uncharted 2, gives off that Indiana Jones feel and has just been amazing. Rawr!
Arkham was incredible, thought not the best game I've played this year. I think that would probably go to COD, mainly because of how amazing multiplayer is. However, I have yet to go pick up my copy of Assassin's Creed, so that could change.
I enjoy plots more, probably why I have it higher That and my being a Batman fanboy helps... For me, I'm totally cool with playing CS for the rest of my FPS life
I love a good story too, but I want to be entertained as well. COD has been beyond entertaining, and I haven't even played solo campaign yet.
i hears arkham was amazing, and the new uncharted as well. need me a ps3 to get down on that. someone describe the arkham gameplay to me?
It's a great plot fitting for the style of the Batman: Animated Series that had Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill (Most of that voice acting class is back for this game), except its darker. Alot of the Batman background of villains, heroes, and the city. The fighting is great, just pure kickass, chaining from one guy to the next, connecting combos which unlock other stuff like takedowns and throws. Batarangs, Line Launcher, Explosive Gel are all available to be used in the game, along with their variations. Detective mode allows Batman to search from tracks and other stuff to find his targets or follow someone or investigate an area. Also helps to solve Riddler's riddles sometimes. The Riddles aren't necessary to complete the game, but there a TON of riddles across the island, in either finding Riddler trophies OR actually solving a riddle and scanning the thing that the riddle is referencing. Some are tricky, but all of them add more to the game because they reference other villains (famous OR obscure) along with other characters and items. Game is completely detailed and just mind-blowing. Anything else?
I think of it as a combination between Splinter Cell, Metroid Prime, Assassin's Creed and Bioshock. It was an incredibly fun game, but after I found/ unlocked everything, I just haven't had the heart to start a new game. The combo system was crazy.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Holy shit it's awesome. Bought it in Montreal. They created the greatest animated ass in this game :|
Arkham Asylum was just a badass game. I think it was one of the few times where I was motivated to go after all the extras by more than an OCDish desire to reach "100% complete." The game does a great job of getting you into the atmosphere and enthusiastic about all the dimensions of Batmanness: the detective-work, the stealth, the technology, the straight fighting. If I had one issue, it was the last boss. Visually/conceptually it was ridiculously cool, but I felt it was too easy/repetitive.
Uncharted 2 was just amazing. The voice acting added another dimension, the physics behind the game was great and had a lot of replay value. It definitely outshines Assassin's Creed II this year as the previous installments were considered even. Assassin's Creed II = 7.5/10 Uncharted 2 = 9.5/10
I think that's way low for AC2. I've been playing it for the last few days and it is a very fun game with a great story.
