Can it even be possible? He thinks he may be ready by the end of the season.

Greg wants to be back by the end of the season

Wow if he could get back, how would that boost our moral? What leadership would that instill on the rest of the team? As much as I want him back, will this even happen? I just don't think management will want to gamble on that. Maybe it will depend on our seeding. Who knows. Regardless, it's awesome that the big fella isn't giving up. He wants to keep on playing! PROPS TO ODEN!

We're better with All Star Juwan Howard at center.

Nothing sorry about it. It's just cool that he wants to get back. His motivation is to help his team, not himself. That unselfishness is an awesome trait. I wish him all the best. That injury looked bad and I doubt he comes back, but the motivation alone to want to come back and try everything he can to get back is inspiration enough to his team mates that he is all about the team, not himself.

Really gotta love this guy! Great character. I only hope that he recovers and can get a few years in of healthy play!

I think the Blazers would not permit his return - but you never know...it is a medical thing. With screws in place - provided his bones mend fast, I doubt he'd reinjure the same patella?

    Godspeed Greg!

Here's hoping he drinks lots of milk and takes calcium supplements.

If he's off crutches by April, I hope they put him on the play-off roster even if there is no chance he even plays. It would be good experience or him to be on the bench, in the huddles and going through the emotional ups and downs of play-off basketball - even if he doesn't play. I think his teammate will also be inspired by his presence, in uniform, sitting next to them on the bench.

We get 12 roster spots for the play-offs. I'd rather have Greg Oden with zero chance of playing sitting in that 12th chair than Anthony Tolliver with a 1% chance of playing. Because, face it, if we're down to relying on Anthony Tolliver* to win in the post season, we're toast anyway.

    BNM

    * Nothing against Anthony Tolliver, feel free to substitute Michael Ruffin, Shavlik Randolph, or any other 12th man of your choice here.

I seriously doubt the Blazers would LET Greg play even if he was 100% by the end of the year. If he got hurt again . . . and it keeps him from being able to come to camp healthy next season . . . the fit will hit the shan.

Until Howard has a bad game that costs Portland.

Then it will be "Trade Howard! That guy sucks."

Hey HCP - I haven't seen Greg at games since he's injured. I sit not far behind the Blazer bench. Is he there, am I missing him?
