Yeah, it varies a lot depending on how high you are.

If you are really high, you may perceive snow that others can't. They may laugh at you.

Do people in Portland run to the grocery store and buy everything in sight every time the weather calls for snow?

I was out around noon today; there was a lot more of that cold Gorge air than expected, for sure. F'ing cold walking from Cup & Saucer back to my house. It was definitely colder than 37 out there!

By the time there's snow on the ground, it's too late... you could kill yourself out there! Usually in Southeast we get our snow shoes and walk to a bar.

Multiply that by 19 and you get last winter's snowfall. It can get a little crazy some years. Well, crazy for Portland standards.

Most of the crazy is supplied by those asshats in Subarus who think they can go anywhere!

That usually only happens when we get hit with an ice-storm

You guys better get your supplies, my wife just made the comment "I don't know it is only going to get colder!"

As you can see we are already getting a decent amount of snow.

    I agree
Ice storms are different, and people get to the store for good reason.

Last year was beyond crazy. I've lived here my whole life and I'd NEVER seen a series of winter storms like that. It was worse than the storms of '90 and '79 by a long shot.

There was a huge blizzard here in 1978 that completely shut down the area for weeks. Ever since then, every time the weathermen mention the word "snow", people go buy enough food for like 2 weeks. The supermarket will have 20 registers open and each one has a line of 10 people. The funny thing is, there hasn't been one storm since that one where you couldn't drive on the roads the day after.

Really picking now around Wash Sq. Big flakes, whereas an hour ago it was like wimpy little ice clusters. Can still see lines in the parking lot through the stuff on the ground.

Why do you store your relish in rubbers? Are you going to mule them into some country where relish is illegal?

HCP stands for condominante relish mule.

Looks like it's going continue until 7pm or so. If it doesn't warm up, we'll get at least an inch.
