Pendergraph was the only guy who played to his potential last night. That is to say - the rest of the team sucked major ass. JP had a pretty good career at ASU, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him develop into a career second-stringer at PF. But as Ed O pointed out, Brian Grant was one of the better power forwards in a Western Conference that was loaded with good power forwards back in the late '90s and early '00s. Certainly something for Pendergraph to shoot for, but at this point, I'd be happy if he was as good as Grant was the last year or two of his career.
No reason for him not to play some back up PF. I'm not saying he'll get a lot of mins, but we are thin at PF.
I just meant his style of play was like Brian's. I don't think he'll contribute like BG, just bang like 'em!
The whole Travis/Martell/Batum/Cunningham wing debate needs to be solved still... I say they go to Fire On The Mountain, and the top two wing-eaters get to stay.
Find some homeless guys, and dress them up in Kobe jerseys. Whoever administers the most savage beating, gets to stay.
Start 'em off with a dozen Raspberry Habanero, then two dozen of the weekly special, then El Hefe the rest of the way. Unlimited beers allowed. I've never had the stones to get six El Hefe wings. I think about it every time, but just can't bring myself to do it.
I thought that was clear. I mean, you're not crazy...well, not that crazy....well....your avatar is freaking me out man!
Reminds me of Shawn Kemp, before the drugs, after the great years, before the fatness, and after gifting $25 million back to the Blazers and their ingrate fans. With a wee bit of John Havlicek thrown into the recipe. Bring to a boil and strain.
Borderline All-Star? I dunno Ed. Karl Malone, Chris Webber, Kevin Garnett, Antonio McDyess, Tim Duncan were the premier PF's in the West. Even Abdur-Rahim (20/10 guy back then), Antoine Jamison, & a young guy in Dallas named Dirk were more "All Star" than Brian Grant. The "Rosta Monta" was a really good role player. About 12/8 guy who did the dirty work and didn't care about how many shots he got, or how often he got the ball. JP may never be as good of a supporting cast type guy as BG was, but I don't think it's out of the question to compare the two by any means. I think people get hung up on where a guy was drafted sometimes (Maybe not you Ed) Sure, we got JP in the 2nd round - doesn't mean he can't play. Maybe he slipped because he doesn't have much upside. He will not score much in this league - that we know for sure. It's rare that you see a guy who just wants to play defense, rebound, and bang a little bit. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who could, but they see themselves as being better than that. It appears JP has a pretty good feel for what he can/can't do out there. I haven't seen him take a bad shot yet, or try to put the ball on the floor - he plays within his limits. I think he's the b/u PF we've been waiting for - lunch pail guy who's good enough, but not so good that he "needs" to start or touch the ball a whole lot.
Wow that below the knee, knee pad reminds me of the one Dutch Savage used to wear on Portland Wrestling.
Dutch Savage, wow I haven't heard that since watching Portland Wrestling a long time ago. WAKE UP!!! WAKE UP!!!!
