If the Rockets offered a deal involving Tracy McGrady and others for Corey Maggette and possibly Anthony Randolph involved, would you want the Warriors to do the trade? We lose Maggette, and McGrady is a huge expiring contract, but on the other hand, we lose Randolph.
No, Maggette's value is actually improving right now, believe it or not. He's putting up good numbers. He's not like Stephen Jackson. So, I would no do it just for cap relief, if we lose Randolph, what's the point of having cap relief if you have no talented prospects to sign... Both of those players are valuable right now -- if it meant getting a re-signed Chris Bosh, or something, then that's a different story.
It won't work. T-Mac makes too much. You'd have to throw in at least Ellis to make the salaries work. It would be better to do a sign-and-trade and get someone like Chris Bosh for that kind of money. A re-signed Bosh and DeRozan for Ellis, AR and Mags sounds a lot better. Then we'd have: PG: Curry, CJ SG: DeRozan, Bell SF: Buike, Morrow PF: Bosh, BW C: AB Raps would have: PG: Calderon, Jack SG: Ellis, Wright C: AB or AR PF: AR or AB SF: Hedo Mags off the bench
i actually wouldnt mind that trade. although, i doubt the raps would part with derozan in a deal involving bosh.
Now that you guys mention it... Chris bosh to the rockets would instantly make the rockets a favorite for the title assuming they're healthy... they're already a playoff contender w/o yao and a solid all star. But if you add both then look out NBA. a lineup of Brooks - Ariza - Battier - Bosh - Yao w/ a bench of Scola, Landry, Hayes, etc. will just dominate. Btw, im talking about a Hou - Tor trade. There is no way in hell the Raptors would do that GSW - Hou trade... They already have Calderon, Hedo... Ellis and co would just mess up their rotation.
After watching last night, I will reluctantly give Maggette some credit, he only threw up one ill-advised jumper (banked from the elbow, Fitz said "ball slipped"). He played some wonderful one-on-one defense on Kobe and made some nice moves to get to the line along with some passes. His rebounding is horrible though. Yeah I love Curry but watch him, he know how to get in position to at least box out. That is a basic thing that Maggette never learned. I still want to see the youngsters play though. Losing be damned.
Maggette seems under control. Never thought I'd say those things in one sentence. Before, when he got the ball in transition, he would just slash straight to the rim with no lateral moves, no slowing down, praying for a foul call. Now, he'll get the ball, slash to an open area, slow down, turn his back to the basket, wait for his teammates, and make the right decision. Pretty incredible transformation. I guess the boos did something.
The Corey Mags fan club has tiny membership, but is open to accepting more members . Mags will have to do until the Warriors come up with something better. Still, I rather see him come off the bench like Al Harrington in New York and AR gets more PT. If we had Mike D'Antoni, then we'd play a more regular lineup and still keep it uptempo. If we had Mike D'Antoni and Donnie Walsh (or even Chris Mullin), then this team would have some kind of direction. Right now, we're just making it up as we go along. And if you listen to what Don Nelson (FDB) or Larry Riley tells you, then you're just getting a facial .
