I really doubt that. Have you any proof? Maybe the west side of the river, for 20 blocks lol but once your over Sylvan, there are not many panhandlers.
I'm pretty confident most of the freeway panhandlers are on the west side because there are a lot more onramp stoplights over there. That's where the traffic backs up after work getting on the freeway. I'm very liberal in my social views but I never give money to pan handlers because most of the time they look pretty obviously in search of drug money. Also, I don't really see it as a good idea to encourage them. The only time I've ever confronted someone is when they start back talking if I won't give them money...otherwise they seem like a regular part of the landscape. PS - Beaverton sucks.
...and the theory proves true Those who know the least are the loudest ...hope you enjoyed yelling at a homeless man who did nothing to you. ...and you didnt "take a stand" as you claim...you yelled at a homeless man. Thats not taking a stand, thats letting frustrations get the better of you (again) and chewing somebody out because you dont know how to express yourself unless you are pissed. Going to City Hall or the Police to try to remedy the problem is "taking a stand"....you were just being a snob
Do you have a problem with the sign wavers employed by businesses? They are basically doing the same thing - trying to profit off of you by proxy. Also, Your analogy to a dog shitting on your lawn is stupid. You don't own the area of town where you confronted PH. Here's hoping that your menacing behavior gets the proper respect it's due(a punch to the face).
Now that's something I wish would go away!!! I Hate those idiot businesses that use sign carriers...it's always like a mattress store or something...I've already got a damn mattress!!!
Think about this way, even if the guy is a drug addict or "trying to get one over" on you, his or her life is ultimately a helluva lot more depressing and fucked up than your life. Try showing an ounce of humanity and maybe someday when you're down on your luck someone will be generous enough to do the same for you. Basically, unless you were harrassed or threatened by a person on skid row and you harrass or threaten them then you are a giant fucking douche bag.
Yeah, downtown is on the west side, but I get what you are saying. I've worked around the corner from Pioneer square for almost 8 years. Between panhandlers and the canvassers, I'm pretty sick of being asked for money. I generally ignore any rude comments from aggressive panhandlers, but sometimes they deserve a good FUCK YOU! You went way out of your way to vent on some sad sack guy, and for that you are fucking an asshole.
I used to work in a building overlooking Pioneer Square and the canvassers are worse than the panhandlers...I even had the same Hari Krishna dude come up to me 4 times one week...
Don't get me started on the Krishna. They "give" you a book, then ask for a "donation" of a set price.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the Krishnas, haven't seen them in a while. I used to chat with one of them all the time. He moved here from Bellingham to start a band, and ended up with the Krishnas. Nice guy.
That is your opinion. You run to the cops when you have a problem, I take care of it myself. Come on, aren't you from LA? Don't they have balls down there? Is the world seriously lacking balls these days? I predicted some half wit would say that. Change the word 'lawn' to 'park' and pretend its a park you go to with your kids. Better? Can you handle that mental picture? Or do you need to dissect that too for inconsistencies? So... why don't you come and give me my punch in the face, tough guy? How is it menacing to stand up for what I believe in and keep my town clean? Me too! I don't need 7 mattress world signs on the road telling me where to get a mattress. I fucking know where to go. I show PLENTY of humanity to people in my life. You all only see the bad side of me. When it snowed the other day, my buddy and I drove up to Sylvan just to look for people to help out of the snow. We helped 6 cars get out of ditches and it was awesome. Anyhow, so obviously you are all cool with pan handlers in your city and at your stores. Is there anyone who thinks panhandlers are a distraction and you would rather not see them when you go to get a gallon of milk? Does anyone (besides the guy sitting with me at work) agree with me? By the way, dude next to me was homeless for 2 years. Never panhandled. Always was able to find some kind of work. No matter what, he was ALWAYS able to find some kind of job to make ends meet.
If you want to throw shit at people, send a couple of PMs... But I guess that didn't work out last time, did it?
are we trying to go out of 2009 in a big bang or something? I can see it now.. Internet meltdown 2009! Send someone to Troutdale and Gresham! Film at 11!
