Jeff's aggressive attitude is an intangible that this team has really needed for quite some time. Personally, I am not as afraid for our ability to score w/o Trout as I am for our rebounding and toughness in the second unit with out JP.
JP - Assuming he is consistent and that we have Bayless in the "sparkplug", get yer own shot scorer role.
This team needs a guy who can rebound and isn't afraid to get his nose dirty? Gee, which player does that sound like?
As usual...Couldn't agree more. Yeah, I agree, but I think it's key that the guy who supplies the toughness isn't necessarily the littlest person on the floor. Y'know, someone a little more imposing. Don't get me wrong, Bayless' attitude is awesome, too.
If I had to choose between the two - I want to see more of Pendergraph before I make that choice. Can he consistently do what he's done the last few games? And can he stay healthy? He's had some wierd injuries - he had a tumor in his leg at ASU. Maybe just a fluke? I can see both of them being part of the rotation, depending on what happens at the 5 spot. Can Greg stay healthy? Can Joel? Although JP is undersized, he's a nice insurance policy to have.
Travis has a role, but I think it shouldn't be the PF. Offensively, he can take advantage of some of them, but not defensively. Rebounding, beef and inside presence is what JP can offer. Travis can't.
I like JP's potential. He has a mean streak and looks like he can be an enforcer like the role Dale Davis played. If he can keep this up he solves a lot of our problems in the frontcourt with his rebounding and hustle points. He also has a 35" vert at 6'10" 250 lbs, that's impressive.
I hope we resign Travis for a deal like the one Marty got and do not have to choose between them. We can play them as needed, based on matchup, needs - and they both will give you nice production for the salary. If we have to choose one over the other - the real question is - how reliable are Joel and Greg going forward, if not - Jeff-P will get the nod, if they are - Travis is a more needed commodity. But, at the end of the day, I hope we can keep them both for the next 3-4 years. That would be awesome.
I think they can co-exist. I think the real question in the future is Outlaw or Cunningham? The way I see it, as does Jason Quick, Pendergraph is a Center.
since I'm not positive Travis is going to be healthy ever again on our team, I take JP. If Travis was healthy? He's more talented than JP, but I'm not positive he's more experienced (yes, I realize what I just wrote). He's also not really a position we need (as others have said). EDIT: Didn't see Fez's post. I agree. And right now I'd take Travis over Dante. Rookie still has to show me a lot more.
Whenever a "Travis vs..." thread is started, the overwhelming majority of this forum will pick the other guy. Howard, Cunningham, etc. It could be "Travis vs LeBron," and everyone would pick LeBron. Ridiculous.
Travis vs. Yi would make your head explode,though. And in that case, I'm not sure I wouldn't pick Travis.
I know. Some people would even select a prime Michael Jordan over Outlaw. All a bunch of haters on this site.
