I'm actually going to watch this Monday. I have to believe that the ratings will be sky high, especially in Canada
This is WWE's way of saying, "TNA, we'll always be over you." Because on the same day, Hulk Hogan returns to wrestling on TNA. And we all know, Bret Hart > Hogan.
i did spotlight for the wwe show in manchester nh last tuesday, and yeah i forget exactly but hart is gonna wrestle some irish dude named shamus i think.
Did anybody watch? First Raw in a long time I've (ok well I didn't watch but I recorded it and zipped through the nonsense, which these days was roughly 2 out of the 2.25 hours) sat through it in forever. I have to admit when Bret's music hit I got a chill. I guess I didn't realize how much that guitar screech would bring me back to my childhood. I couldn't help but smile as he came down to the ring. His interactions with Michaels, Jericho, and McMahon were every bit the scripted pablum that the current WWE has become. I was hoping for a little more shoot and a little less shit. Made it hard for me to believe that there was any genuine regret between him and the villains of Montreal (BTW, should've been four but Triple H I guess didn't want to be involved or Bret requested that he not be). There was a carefulness to the way Raw handled him and the way he was able to express himself that I guess I should've expected but I think it hurt the end product. In the end it seems Bret's pay for showing up was getting his dad finally put into the WWE Hall of Fame, whatever that is worth. Stu Hart helped create a lot of wrestlers and put the business where it is today. Maybe the single most influential trainer in the history of pro wrestling. How he wasn't considered before could only be McMahon's failing. The ending with Bret getting kicked was ridiculous but it's been five or ten years since the WWE did anything half-decent so its what I've come to expect.
Raw was okay until the end. The whole segment with Vince and Brett was just stupid IMO. The kick in the nuts was kinda lame, and expected. Overall, Raw wasn't too bad, I was just disappointed in the last segment.
