http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/11994/raptors-to-waive-mensah-bonsu I wonder if the team would consider picking him up off the waiver wire with their hardship execption?
I'm a big Pops-booster, but you have to wonder why he keeps getting waived. As I've said before, it always surprises me that players like Jermaine "Junkyard Dog" Williams (or was that Jerome?), Renaldo Balkman and Pops, who are all great athletes and hustle players, but have limited Bball skills (sort of non-asshole Ruben Pattersons) seem to become fan faves then gradually vanish from the rotation. Meanwhile Bo Outlaw, who seems like another candidate (and who is remarkably similar to Pops in athleticism, lack of shot, and slight size for the center position) carved out a pretty good career. You've got to think that their minuses outweigh their pluses. I don't think Pops really works for us. We have undersized post players: what we need is somebody bulky who can slow down the Kamans of this world. Whatever happened to Steven Hill?
Steven Hill is not good...that's what happened to him. He wouldn't be able to guard big men any better than Pendy. I like the idea of Pops. Hustle player, decent shot blocker and can rebound. Definitely better than Shav..As much as I like him.
Time to make another run at Millsap? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...F?slug=mc-jazznotes010410&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
I saw that too. On the plus side his contract gets increasingly better over time due to the signing bonus we ... er ... the Jazz gave him but I'm pretty sure they couldn't trade him to us since he signed an offer sheet with us over the summer.
I would think he has got to be better than Shav. I say get the guy just to screw with the Raptors for the whole Hedo thing.
And, he's BYC. And, the Jazz LIKE him. So, Millsap isn't likely going anywhere soon. They want to dump their overpaid garbage (Boozer, Kirelenko) on someone and actually expect to get something of value in return. Good luck with that. BNM
