I'm listening on KNBR for the early part. AR did not start with Biedrins. Nelson lied again . At least, he's in now.
Warriors aren't getting any calls. The refs are biased. The Warriors should be winning this game by ten. Monta is playing great, but he needs to watch his TOs. His +/- was positive and is neg now because he's playing so many minutes that he's playing with the Warrior players who are sucking in this game like Watson, Radman and Turiaf.
Sorry, but you can't pin this one on the refs. The Warriors were reaching and grabbing on defense, and not moving their feet. It was as if after the 1st quarter, they remembered how unhappy they were to be there.
Agreed. Especially after the Warriors got romped in the 4th quarter. Roy was great. Monta's turnovers are starting to become untenable.
I told you we would see the Maggette, Morrow, Watson core at crunch time. That's just an awful group to watch now. Add Monta who is starting to get a little SJax give up at the D end when he does not get a call and its just not good basketball. Where's the hope? Not watching those guys.
At this point, I'm not sure what the Warriors can do. They gave up too much talent without enough in return and now we're witnessing the limits of Monta and AB's game. Randolph was "supposed" to be another ball handler at the point forward position, but that didn't last long. What kind of player evaluation was that? AR can't play point forward, so now he sits. That kind of stuff just drives me crazy. It just goes to show you that the Warriors have no direction with the current management. With Mullin, he made some mistakes, but we had direction and I think it was a net positive. I think Ellis could cut down on his turnovers, but then we need someone else who can score and handle the ball. If I was coach, I'd give it to Curry. Mags can score, but he's too much of a gunner with the ball in his hands. I think Curry should take more shots and he'll also distribute the ball. Still, Curry would do better in a pick and roll system since he's a distributor and then shooter like Steve Nash. Not in a system where he has to create his own shot most of the time. He's not strong enough. In Nelson's system, it's better to have someone like Monta with the ball, but then we see what happens when we don't have enough players who fit that system. What? Play Curry at point forward? That's crazy. LOL.
I'm not even crazy about Mullin anymore. If you think about it, he drafted a lot of duds in the first round after Biedrins (Although POB wasn't really his fault because look at that draft... uggg). The one draft that bothers me the most is the one where we picked Ike Diogu. There were 4 players that I liked in that draft (Gerald Green, Ike Diogu, Andrew Bynum, and Danny Granger) I liked Danny Granger at the time, because I was so sick of Dungina effeteness as a starting guard-like small forward and thought why not get a skill player with size and length who is athletic to replace Dunleavy. Mullin didn't want to do that, he was too in love with Dunleavy. I liked Gerald Green because his upside was tremendous and he might be a small forward player to replace Dunleavy. Mullin didn't want to do that, he was probably too in love with Dunleavy. I liked Andrew Bynum because I felt that Biedrens would never really fill out and be that big guy that can mix it up down low and fill the paint. Mullin probably didn't want to do that because he was in love with his first draft pick as a GM. I liked Ike Diogu because he was a safe player who was supposed to be a dominant offensive guy either in the style of Elton Brand or Zach Randolph. Naturally, Mullin picks the guy that has the lowest upside and he can't do jack right now because he's more injury prone than any of the other four. He's short and he's slow and he has to gather leap to block shots. Doh! So since we wound up with one of the four I was happy/content because it looked good on paper. But, man, I expected Mullin to draft the guy that could be a huge franchise player. If he had picked Granger or Bynum, I wonder how this franchise would have turned out... I mean talk about being too loyal to Biedrins and Dunleavy. He should have drafted the guy who was a lot more rare or gotten the joe johnson type guy who was close to a sure thing. It's like the recent draft, why could we have done something to get Chris Douglas Roberts. I mean he's a sure thing skill player. Instead we want to do it cheaply by getting nbdl standouts at the swing positions... This franchise just can't draft...
Remember that Mullin worked out a deal with Beidrins to not work out with any other teams. That was all Mully. But his lack of drafting ability was saved by his ability to move garbage for proper pieces that fit together. Looking back at Jackson, Baron, Barnes...they weren't ideal personalities to have on the team, but together, they had chemistry. Mullin definitely understood that. I'd hire him back in a heartbeat.
Mullin was ranked as one of the worst GMs, but compared to what we have now he ranks as one of the Warriors better GMs. I know that sounds pathetic, but who else did we have at GM that was better ? Many people wanted Gerald Green, including myself, but he turned out to be a bust. I don't think he's even in the league anymore. Granger would have been my next pick, but Granger had some kind of foot problem that needed immediate surgery and he could not work out a second time for the Warriors. It was bad luck on the Warriors part. Mullin liked Granger. As for Bynum, we never had a shot for him. Mullin did go to his workout in New York, but Bynum refused a private workout because he had a promise from the Lakers. The other guy you are forgetting is Channing Frye. Mullin wanted Frye the most imho. It's just that New York took him. I think Granger was second if he had a great second workout. Ike was a horrible pick and some people wanted him, but not me. I suggested getting Frye for the Warriors when he was available this year. It would have been a smart move to make with Nelson. Now I'm suggesting dealing AR, Morrow and/or Wright for a re-signed Tyrus Thomas. We got Nelson as coach, so if we are sticking with him for the next two years or more, then we need to get Nelson players no matter how much we don't like them. You guys already know I rather get rid of the coach and keep AR. It's a moot point, but we would have likely have kept Harrington, Jackson, Crawford, Belinelli and traded CJ if Mullin was still here and Nelson was banished.
Thanks, I didn't know Bynum pulled an Amare Stoudamire on us... It seems if you're a big man with talent and potential DO NOT WORK OUT FOR THE WARRIORS! I'm glad we didn't have the chance to pick Frye. Overrated. Kawakami or somebody was building this guy up to be the next Tim Duncan. He's a good role player right now for the Suns, but he's the not the piece to build around like Granger or possibly Bynum. Tyrus Thomas is a pretty exciting player, lots of upside, but possible nut case. Eat this Thomas! Speaking of Thomas, did you ever see that one where he goes for a breakaway dunk and he just misses it entirely (I think he hurt himself while trying to elevate). It was pretty embarrassing dunk attempt and I think it was taken off youtube. It's like dood, unless you're Jrich or Vinsanity, go for the layup.
