Good idea...would really depend on who we give up though. I have a feeling we're not going to make any moves and just play the season out...Not like we were going to win a ring this year even if everyone was healthy.

He's 32. He's not a shot blocker. Okay rebounder. No offensive ability. Terrible FT shooter.

What do have to give up? I sure wouldn't give much for this guy. Talk about mortaging your future - we have no use for this guy next year.

I wouldn't call it mortgaging your future. His contract would expire next season, so hardly a long-term commitment. Even next year, there's no guarantee Oden and Przy are ready to go and will stay healthy.

Finally, he's a pretty good defender and would seem like a good fit for the Blazers.

I think the key issue with him would be his health. He's out with a back issue at the moment, and while I don't think it's a major issue, I certainly wouldn't deal for him until he's shown he's healthy. At the deadline, Foster for Blake and a minimum salary throw in (Shav would have worked via the trade checker) would certainly get it done.

Well Blake for Foster sure isn't very sexy. I was hoping we could package Blake's expiring with something else for a decent player. What I mean by mortaging the future is that Foster won't be around after next year when we are hitting our stride - Not worth trading any of our young guys.

Realistically many of your young guys won't be either. There's only so many minutes to go around, and if you were to trade Blake's expiring for a decent player you wanted to keep, then you'd have even fewer minutes for younger guys.

I mean, if I'm the Blazers and I'm projecting forward a couple years, I'm looking at
    1- Bayless, Mills
    2- Roy, Rudy, Petteri
    3- Webster, Batum
    4- LMA, Pendergraph, Cunningham
    5- Oden, Przy, Freeland

plus a couple more first rounders. You barely even have the roster spots for those guys let alone minutes. So basically, a couple of those guys are gonna be gone anyway.

I spose whether they go for a guy like Foster depends on whether they can find a bigger name SF or maybe PG, but it's sort of a long shot either way.

Foster would be a great pickup. His game is similar to Joel's.

He does look like a poor man's Joel. He's not a shot blocker, but he does take up space.

Fosters game is A LOT l like Pendergraph's. A hard nosed big. Though, he's not as athletic as JP.

Yeah I agree. I've been a fan of Foster for awhile as a backup big man. The guy just does the dirty stuff and hustles all the time. I wouldn't mind picking him up.. though it'd depend on who we'd give up.

I think many teams would be happy to have him. Tenacious rebounder.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the resemblance. But clearly Freddie had the better hops:
