Re: Game of the Year ok i guess i am misunderstanding. if a game having better graphics/loading times/cutscenes/etc, due to its platform makes it a better game imo, ill find another thread to talk about it.
Re: Game of the Year Dunno why there is such a thing as a fanboy but we have some in this thread for sure. The Wii could have a stellar game one year but you'd take it out of the running because it doesn't utilize the superior hardware capability of the other systems? A mediocre game on a powerful system is better than a great game on a less powerful one? What about a DS game? It's a nonsense argument. You don't need to take hardware into consideration for Game of the Year. It is what it is. Demon's Souls (sp) is supposedly pretty intense and challenging but I haven't heard it described as being very fun, which put me off of it. I voted for Uncharted 2. I've also been playing Assassin's Creed 2 a lot and it is very good as well.
Re: Game of the Year I'm also surprised that Gamespot game Demon's Souls game of the year considering they rated it a 9.0, which was lower than what they gave the other big RPG--Dragon Age, as well as Braid, The Ballad of Gay Tony, Forza Motorsport 3, Chinatown Wars, and Uncharted 2. Video game snob pick, IMHO.
Re: Game of the Year That's how it's done for video game ratings for almost all game sites. Some jackass reviews it himself and gives it a rating. It's not like they come in a team meeting and come to terms on a decision. For example, according to IGN, Gears of War 2 is equally as good as Uncharted 2. (I checked out the Dante's Inferno demo and it's not bad. Not on God of War's level but I respect it since the developers stated they were inspired by GoW.)
Re: Game of the Year Well, in all rights it should have just been an expansion for the original. Regardless though, I think it's fun. The melee weapons add a nice touch and are a blast to use. The only issue I've encountered isn't even something in the game's control, and that's the fact that I'm constantly getting paired with mentally retarded jackoffs online.
Re: Game of the Year L4D2 is what L4D should of been, hence the quick release. Killing Floor isn't all that, don't buy it.
Re: Game of the Year I've been playing L4D2 for the past few days. Great game. Don't get near me when I have the chainsaw. Anyway the winner of our poll is Uncharted 2!
And don't forget Splinter Cell: Conviction. And just a thought, the more I play AC2, the more I love it. For me, it's definitely GOTY now that I'm nearly through it.
Bioshock 2, Dead Rising 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, Lone Planet 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII and Dante' Inferno are all being released in the following three months.
Just Cause 2, Battlefield 1943, Dawn of Fantasy, and Deus Ex 3 are the only interesting ones on PC, for me.
