The kid is about as consistent as you can get for a big man. He's Avg. 16/12/3 asst. right now and has only had one game without a double double since he came back from his hand injury. He's getting about 5 offensive boards a game..I have always thought he was going to be a solid NBA player but I would honestly take him over Mayo at this point...I thought that trade was really dumb at the time. Too bad our crowd boo's Love every time he comes home...What's up with that?
He is quite a nice prospect. Hollinger pretty much nailed it before the draft when he projected him to be one of the best of his class. His rebound rate is amazing, he pulls down 14 per 36 minutes, his PER is at an Oden-like 23.3, and now he's showing the long range touch, shooting 41% on 3s. Still only 21. I don't know much about his defense but I'd seriously consider trading Aldridge for him. The Wolves probably wouldn't though.
Offensively he's a nice high post player and his rebounding is superb, but his D is below suspect. Thats a real knock against a Big in my view the Wolves are 5-16 w/Love playing (24%) and 8-31 (21%) overall STOMP
my guess is he gets booed cause he didnt go to an Oregon School. As stupid as it is to boo for that. But hell I dont boo Kobe and get looked at awkwardly when I dont, so I might be the wrong person to answer lol.
It's because this state is full of U of O honks who think he should have gone and played for Ernie Fucking Kent instead of Ben Howland at UCLA ... Gee, what the hell was Love thinking.
So they are 3% better when he plays than not. What's wrong with that? Secondly, just look at his on-court/off-court numbers and PER differential if you think his D is so bad http://www.82games.com/0910/09MIN10.HTM That's just a bad team, with no real center, and maybe the worst backcourt in the NBA.
I hate the Ducks as much as anyone (what a great win at the Pit by the Beavs on Sunday), but I boo him too. Any Oregon kid going to play for UCLA will draw my ire.
Why would you begrudge a kid going to play for a team that has competed yearly for final four appearances and has one of the best basketball programs in the country? KL knew he was destined for the NBA and wanted to play for a real coach who was going to help develop him and help him get to where he wanted to go. I would have booed him had he been stupid enough to play for OSU or UofO (and I'm a pretty big Beavers fan).
Sure, because only at UCLA can one develop an NBA game. How's Howland's coaching looking this year? Pretty atrocious despite blue chip talent.
Why boo someone I dont even know? And this last game I am so glad we didnt do the "Kobe Sucks" chant.. yeah I'm not going to join in on a BS chant that is untrue lol. I guess I am there to root for my team, not root against someone else.
lol yeah I hear ya on that one. Sure it would be nice if U of O got him.. but why hate a kid for choosing something that is obviously better for him and his future.
Hmm Play for some moron at U of O or go to a program with great history and one of the top fitness facilities in the country?
I had no idea lol. I just figured you had no dog in the fight, as I dont think I've seen you chime in on the debates.
Kobe's one of my favourite non-Blazers players. Outside of my emotional investment in the Blazers, I watch the game for entertainment and Kobe is one of the best to watch play.
If the Wolves are 5-16 w/Love playing (24%) and 8-31 (21%) overall, then they are 5-16 (.238) with Love and 3-15 (.167) without him. More than .03 difference. I was wrong about Love and how good he would be... I didn't think he'd be athletic enough or big enough to rebound this well. I expect him to continue to improve as a shooter and, coupled with his passing, he's got potential to be a very good offensive player. Defensively? I dunno. I expect him to improve (as most players do) but if he's as good on the boards and the offensive end as he appears to be, lack of defense is not THAT big of an issue. Ed O.
amazing to watch him play. He makes things seem so freaking easy.. I cant even fathom having his ability.
Yeah, that was the consensus knock on him, size and athleticism. Surprisingly, he measured at 6ft 9.5in in shoes with a 35-inch running vertical.
