Not what I want to hear. Sounds like he might need some time off to recuperate. I wonder if he could hold off until Batum comes back. Then we would have more players and weapons when Roy sits out for several games.
He's been carrying such a huge load for the past month, I'm surprised he hasn't taken some time off yet.
I've been worried about all of these 40+ minutes/game B-Roy has been logging. Before tonight's game, Brandon had been averaging 41.5 minuts/game since December 1st. That's just too much for him. I worried he'd break down physically. Man I'm going to be pissed if he's out for a while b/c if knew this was a very real possibility, how did the coaches not?
Because if they sat him, we would have lost almost every game and everybody on here would have freaked out.
He has had the injury since last year. Great! I hope the medical staff doesn't confuse soreness with muscle tear.
He didn't seem too concerned.
Oh boy, that doesn't sound too good. Maybe you're right. Maybe we should shelve him right away for like a couple weeks or a month. Rudy is back and so he could fill Roy's shoes, at least to an extent. If we get a healthy Roy later in the season, we can still make the playoffs.
I hope they're doing some aggressive deep tissue therapy. Rest alone will do nothing other than delay the next bout of soreness/tightness. In my experience, at both the giving and receiving end of massage therapy, hamstring problems are both the easiest and most difficult to solve, depending on the competence of the therapist.
Well it sounds like you're compet1en1t Handy, what are you waiting for? We are wasting time. Go get Roy ready for tomorrow night
If this is anything close to bad, I think it's time to shut Brandon down - FOR THE YEAR. My feelings are based on... 1) an overreaction to the ridiculous amount of injuries we've had this year, 2) my belief that another lottery pick CAN help us (it's what KP's done best so far), 3) my belief that this season's success will ultimately decided, not by wins and losses, but by player development. No Brandon means more time for Bayless, Batum, LA, Martell, etc. to develop into the players they could be. Have I completely given up on this season? No I haven't. But does anyone realistically think we're a title contender, even WITH BRoy? That's just not realistic to me. I feel that this team has the talent to make it to the 1st round even w/out BRoy.
It would be best if we did need to rest Roy, if we could arrange it to happen around the all star game so he could get a really long break. I know a lot of folks want to see Roy play in the all star game this year, but I am going to be selfish here. I want Roy to take that weekend off. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kobe take it off too.
I say let him take a few games off. We've got Rudy back. Bayless is best as a 2. Avoid the minutes crunch by giving Rudy and Bayless Roy's minutes, and giving Blake the minutes that were going to Bayless at the 1. Of course, that means giving Miller more responsibility, which I'm fine with, but I'm not sure Nate would be...
I would be honored, but there are plenty of good therapists in the Portland area, some of which I know have worked with Blazers in the past. There's no reason for something like this to shut Roy down for the year. He may be feeling the lingering effects of a pull/strain, but clearly it is not currently at that state of injury or he would not be moving on it as well as he is (or at all). A week or two of effective therapy can easily have him at or close to 100%. The key is doing the work before the hammy actually does get strained. Once it gets to that point, it can take quite a while to return to reasonably full health.
I think the only way to solve this will be to shut BRoy down forever! That way he will never get injured...and think of all the lottery picks!!!
You know Bayless did pretty damn good while Roy was out against San Antonio. You know, the San Antonio team that is 8-2 in its last 10, with one of those losses being Portland. Worse case scenario is he sits, and Bayless gets the start. Every time Roy has gone down before and Bayless has had to step in, he has done a pretty damn good job stepping up to the plate. It might not be the prettiest set of games, but I think we would be ok.
