Of course, he's not the first international player to score 20,000. That honor goes to Hakeem. What I found surprising is no other European is even close. Detlef Schrempf is the only other European-born player to score over 15,000 points (15,761 to be exact) and Peja is second among active European-born players at less than 13,000. Pau Gasol, Tony Parker and Zydrunas Ilgauskas are the only other active Euros above 10,000 points. BNM
I guess it makes sense, as Dirk has had a pretty long and healty career while consistently scoring a lot. Peja only had a couple of seasons with at least 20 ppg, and went over the hill quickly with injuries. Gasol is still relatively young, and Big Z was never a high scorer and missed a ton of games early in his career.
My first thought was that Petrovic would've done it if he'd lived. But then he was off back to Europe already, wasn't he?
