SET UP: Arenas goes to prison for a few months during which time his contract is voided. He does not get in any additional trouble. He decides he wants to get away from his past and wants to sign with the Trailblazers for cheap (2 mil) for one season. Question: How would you react? Would KP sign him?
My reaction: "Great. Just great. Another scoring point guard. Doesn't anyone just pass anymore?" KP's reaction: "Meh. Low financial risk, high chemistry risk, medium reward." Arenas: "Aww, come on guys. Remember me? HIBACHI!!" Me: "I do love me some classic HIBACHI!!" KP: "Heh... HIBACHI!!" Arenas: "HIBCAHI!!" Me: "Hey KP, can he replace Blaze?" KP: "Sure, why not." Arenas: "Can I shoot the shirt gun?" Me: "Sure." KP: "...oh all right." Arenas: "HIBACHI!!"
If it's me I tell him he's full of shit and should get the hell out of here. But it would be a little tougher if I were in KP's shoes. It would be quite the temptation. Especially if our point guard situation hasn't improved. Luckily for KP it's not gonna happen.
It would totally go against the new morals of this management. Though, you know Arenas is going to come back with a chip on his shoulder. A fully healthy and focused Arenas next to Roy would be a scary combo.
If by scary you mean worst defensive backcourt in the league, and scary because both guys would be playing tug of war over who gets to handle the rock and take the most shots, then yes I agree. Scary!
Gilbert is one of my favorite players in the league but absolutely not. He takes too many dumb shots, even though it is entertaining to watch.
I like Arenas but, no. He's not a good fit, especially not next to Roy. I don't think he should vilified because of this incident. I think it is a situation of naivity more than it is about Arenas being a bad person. He's just dumb.
