Tonight, Stephan Curry became the first player to ever play a full game (48 minutes), fouled out, and stayed in the game! Kinda interesting. The Warriors were down to only 5 players, and Curry committed his 6th foul with 4 seconds left. If a team has no more then 5 eligible players, every foul after that is 2 free throws + 2 additional technical FT's. Crazy night!

Wow. I knew the rule, but never saw it happen before (obviously). That's amazing.

That's very interesting. I thought I read somewhere that it was only 1 technical free throw after one of the last 5 players foul over the limit. I tried to do this once in a basketball video game to see what would happen. But the lazy programmers must not have known the rule or cared to take the time to implement this rule. They treated it like any other foul, i.e. no extra FTs.

    Section I-Team
    a. Each team shall consist of five players. No team may be reduced to less than five players. If a player in the game receives his sixth personal foul and all substitutes have already been disqualified, said player shall remain in the game and shall be charged with a personal and team foul. A technical foul also shall be assessed against his team. All subsequent personal fouls, including offensive fouls, shall be treated similarly. All players who have six or more personal fouls and remain in the game shall be treated similarly.

Did he commit any fouls while on the floor with his already six fouls?

There was only 4 seconds left, so I'd guess not. Weird though.

I might be reading it wrong, but doesn't the rule say one technical foul is assessed, not 2? Why did Curry and the Warriors get penalized with 2 technica FTs?

Edit: Oh wait. I just re-read your original post. I thought you said the other team got 2 technical FTs, but it appears you were just speaking hypothetically. So the Warriors were penalized with a technical FT after Curry got his 6th foul, right?

So how is it, that the warriors only have 5 remaining players? I'm confused?

similar thing happened to a buddy of mine in high school. he was playing in the boys club league at lents boys club around 95'. his team only had like 6 guys show up for the game. his team was up by 20 something points and everyone fouled out but him. different set of rules obviously. he was hanging in there 1 on 5, getting blocks and steals, hustlin his ass off. when the other team scored he had to bounce it off one of them real fast or it was a 5 second violation. he would have won but he got called for a lane violation for not having enough players at the key during a free throw so the other team kept getting extra shots until they made it, but he almost pulled it off. one of the other teams mothers video taped it but he was never able to get a copy.
