The question heading into the second half of the season is whether the Blazers have enough manpower and talent to reach the playoffs. While McMillan has conceded his ultimate goal of winning the West, and instead shifted the prize to making the playoffs, general manager Kevin Pritchard said he thinks the team can still overtake Denver and beat out Utah and Oklahoma City for the Northwest Division title. To do that, Pritchard admits he will probably have to make a move before the Feb. 18 trading deadline, most likely netting the Blazers a center or power forward. "We're going to be active," Pritchard said. "We are going to look for deals to help the team and to help Nate." Pritchard said he is having trouble finding a suitable deal, primarily because teams are hoping to catch the Blazers in a desperate state, thereby allowing teams to poach prime young talent like Bayless or Batum. "I'm not opposed to being aggressive, but I'm not going to hit the panic button and try to do something to salvage today and leverage our whole future," Pritchard said. "We've gone through too much to do that." also great article from quick here on the halfway point of the season http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2010/01/trail_blazers_midyear_report_i.html
Bob Hayward http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/ne...sstatements/blaenaugwent/1341731.Bob_Hayward/ Looks like he'd make a helluva bean counter.
That should make the Vulcan's happy. But can he rebound and defend the paint? He looks a little old to be part of our long term core, but he could be a good veteran presence to get us through until Oden and Przybilla back. He'd be a calming influence on younger teammates like Howard and Miller. BNM
I think Pritchard is always active. However, I think some of the best deals are the ones you pass on. There's no need to make a deal just to make one.
whats with this strange facination with heywood at all costs? he is expiring, and not in the top 20 in PER amongst centers. no joke, dalembert is having a better season per wise right now, and could be had for free.
