This loss really stings for some reason. Not to mention al the teams chasing us won. okc, houston, spurs, and grizz or suns. Just a really bad loss for our playoff hopes considering that we likely go on a 3 game losing streak after Friday and then get the pistons healthy (rip and gordon coming back) on saturday. Even philly suffered an awful loss to the twolves so the sixers will be trying very hard on wednesday not to mention they own us anyway.

There is some good news... Roy says he will 100% play wednesday according to olive. The Philly and Pistons games are must wins IMO for playoffs. You cannot keep losing to these god awful teams and expect playoffs. Fucking thunder is winning in Atlanta and we are losing to the wizards. See a problem there? Scary time for Blazer fans.

    What an awful loss.

On the contrary. We were in a position where we didn't need a win badly enough to deny Brandon a couple more invaluable days of rest, thanks to the phenomenal win against the Magic. Sucked to lose that game, but it'll prove to be a minor blip that allowed Brandon time to heal.

Say what you want about the Wizards, but they have some really good players, and the chemistry bump they got from losing Arenas will probably last them at least another week or two.

the Wiz got Mike Miller back today. We weren't able to scout him. That was the key element. ;)

    heres the problem i see...

we have lost to the ....

    Knicks in NY
    Wiz in Washington
    Philly in Portland
    Grizz x2 in Portland
    Miami in Portland
    Clippers in LA
    GS in Oakland

Thats 8 real bad losses and when i say real bad... i mean the opponent. Considering every team we are fighting with for playoffs wont likely lose many times to any of these teams if any... its puts us in a real bad spot. The other west teams are beating the teams they are suppose to beat... just like we did last year. This year its the complete opposite. We have 9 raod wins in freaking late January? Are you kidding me?

You can go to every team with a similar record to us and point out 8 bad losses.

This loss was painful to watch. Even Pendergraph blew his cover under the basket and his man scored easy in the 3rd. Comcast 737 showed a replay of that. His man just simply ran by him as it was too late to throw up his arms to defend.

LA was so far away from the basket when he got the ball that he rarely decided to push his way towards the basket. Their game plan wasn't centered around him and he just did 12-15 footer jumpers.

    I watched the whole game.

If memory serves, the Blazers were playing hot teams at the time of those losses. Look it up.

C'mon ABM - Mike Miller has been in the league for how many years? Who doesn't know what he can do?

You can point to our defense, but that's been a consistent problem with no bigs recently. The "key element" was we didn't have any playmakers other than Andre Miller, who spent much of the 4th quarter on the bench with foul trouble. He was the only guy who that could beat his man and create a shot. Even our shots from the perimeter weren't great looks (and against maybe the worst defensive team in the league) Even "bad" defenses can shut you down if you don't have playmakers.

Bayless has come back to earth and even though he made some decent passes today, he's shooting such a low % right now. I just felt like when there was about 5 minutes left and the game was going back/forth that we were going to have to get lucky and hit some tough 3's to win. Washington was getting pretty good looks, and we were struggling to find offense. One this is clear to me - we probably have 6 guys (or more) that are nice 3rd/4th offensive options. We have lots of guys that want minutes/shots, but none of them are guys you can run plays through when you need a bucket. It's B-Roy and the 3rd/4th options. Guys will get hot for a couple of games, but not consistent - that's what 3rd/4th option guys do. All of the elite teams in our conference have at least one solid 2nd scoring option: Lakers = Gasol, Denver = Chauncy, Dallas = Terry/Howard, SA = Parker. A consolidation trade is needed.

It was obviously a poor attempt at humor. Winky, or not. ;)

Basically, it was a facetious play on all that recent talk about how in the world have our scrubs been able to win.

I guess I need to lighten up! Now that you put it that way - it's pretty funny. Although when we play Washington at home on March 19th, I'll be watching to see if you list "Shut Down Mike Miller" as a key to victory . . .

Not so. We have balanced our record with a ton of wins against very good teams. We have one of the best records in the league against the good teams.

Trouble is death only happens once, and you can cheat on your taxes if you have the right lawyer. There's little hope of escaping this stuff.

    Yes so.

    Denver has lost to:
    Miami
    Milwaukie
    Clippers
    Minnesota
    Charlotte
    Detroit
    Sacramento X2
and Memphis (who Mixum counts as a bad team, I say their record shows they're pretty good)

    Phoenix has lost to:
    New York (by 27 points)
    Golden State
    Memphis x2
    Miami
    Indiana
    Charlotte

Not to mention outside Barbosa, they have been completely healthy.

    Oklahoma City has lost to:
    Sacramento
    Clippers
    Milwaukie
    New Orleans @home
    Houston @ home

The only team with a comparable record to us that hasn't lost more than a handful of games to bad teams is San Antonio.

This is despite us missing over half our roster, no true center and missing our superstar for 3 or 4 games.

No doubt we've beat very good teams, my original argument wasn't that we haven't beat good teams, not sure where you pulled that out of your ass. My point is, teams with records similar to ours have lost as many games they should have won. Thats the NBA for ya. Good thing is, we are slowly getting players back.

Every year you win some you shouldn't win, and lose some you shouldn't lose. In the end, you have the record you deserve, and with it, the appropriate playoff spot, or out of the playoffs. If we went off of how it should go on paper, we wouldn't need to play the season, would we? :pimp:
