The Republicans won in NJ, VA and MA by not being Republicans. They consciously divorced themselves from the party powers that be in DC. It seems to me the folks on 1st and C, SE should take notice and realize that just because the Democrats were beaten in these elections, the national party had little to do with it. 1994 happened because the GOP not only provided opposition to the more extreme legislation put forth by the Clinton Administration, but because they had a solid action plan to make things better. Any idiot can identify a problem. The key is to bring a solution. So far, the GOP as a whole doesn't seem to have many decent solutions. Some do (Thad McCotter, Paul Ryan), but most just want to play politics as usual and say what they need to win the next election.
