maybe if it was true but its not- modern genetics has shattered the myth of race. human beings are genetically indistinguishable by race, in fact, modern genetics has chimed in and deemed race a "social construct" http://www.pbs.org/race/000_About/002_04-godeeper.htm then why are there more black ball players than white american ones? it's cultural- african americans, particularly poor ones are indoctrinated to believe that their only vehicle to move up the socio-economic ladder is sports and thats why u see kids in the ghetto skip classes and play basketball for 8 hours a day. and shockingly teachers accept this and just pass the kid along. conversely, white american players are discouraged from pursuing basketball at the higher levels seriously because of the stereotypes u mentioned earlier. and if u disagree on that point, ponder this- why are the best white players (e.g. dirk, steve nash, pau, ginobli) all non-american and originate from non basketball nations?
The stright pride parade exists. We call it a parade. The white actor of the year exists. It's called an oscar (Danzel was the first non white to ever win the award so he is the exception). The Heterosexual/White is implied in these things. If it makes you feel better just insert the word white in front of such things. The reason those special things exist is because without them those folks wouldn't get fuck all. I am guessing from your response you are a white heterosexual male. As such you have to know that you wake up every single day with a monsterous advantage over everyone else. If you don't believe that then you are completely deluded. If a Black Rec league started that didn't admit whites because it was a community building exercise that would be fine. If instead they didn't want whites involved because we can't dance and are too slow that would be wrong. And that is exactly what this All White Basketball league is about. Saying that White players are fundamentally sound and Black players aren't is stupid and wrong. Using the street-ball as a mask for pistol packing gangest is beyond wrong. I have no clue why the hell a Gay Pride Parade would make that any different. Then again, I'm not a biggot who feels threatened by people different then me.
I don't man . . . I guess we can make up all kinds of hypotheticals to see how close to the line we can get that compares to the WNBA. But why? That isn't the case in this sitaution. In this situation, I feel confident saying inthis is nothing like the WNBA. Wouldn't you agree?

No, that's called a parade celebrating a specific event. A strawberry festival parade, the Macy Thanksgiving Parade, Veteran's Day Parade, etc they all celebrate certain events. Unless you're suggesting that only white people celebrate Thanksgiving and only white people are Veterans. But it's still not white, because non-whites win the Oscar, Emmys, Grammys, Golden Globes, SAG, etc. They're not exclusive to just whites - they don't call it "White Actor of the year Oscar goes to.." Perhaps they were implied for a very long time, but fortunately for all of us we're no longer in that era. You cannot expect change while still clinging to the past for your arguments. The reason those special things exist is because people want to feel equal while getting not treating others equal. I'm a 24 year old white girl who is registered as a democrat, has a personality disorder that makes me pretty much asexual 98% of the time and the other 2% of the time I lean like crandc leans. I just don't go around announcing it a lot, because this is generally a forum about sports. Perhaps you shouldn't come to such assumptions because of my views - a big problem in the political system. Both of those scenarios are wrong - do white people not live in black communities? Do black people not live in white communities? Are we still in the 40s and 50s where segregation needs justified? I agree that their league is wrong, and have never once said their league is anything but bad and an unfortunate display that racism still exists. My point was racism exists on all sides, but is generally only brought up and made into a big deal when someone who is (a) white (straight male) does something stupid and racist. Because gay people want to be treated equally but they would be up in arms if straight pride parade was organized or if people got discounts in theme parks for being heterosexual. At least we have something in common.
