I'm not sure that this article can see inside Roy's hammy. I think the line has been 'he's out for the next 2 FOR SURE'... I'd be surprised if he doesn't miss a few more.:sigh:

Ya, I agree, I don't think this says Roy will be back after missing two games, only that he'll miss two for sure. He's going to miss the next two games on the road and then probably reevaluate his injury before our home games.

Yep, he's out a minimum of 2 games. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being 6 or more.

Well, regardless of what this article says, I just heard Jason Quick on the MSP, who had just gotten off the phone with Brandon's agent, and he said the earliest point at which he'll be reevaluated is next Thursday ... I'm no math wiz, but by my count that's 4 games, possibly 5.

My completely uneducated guess is that he's out through the All Star break.

Re: Roy to miss only 2 games

Bob Myers, the agent for Brandon Roy, said the All-Star guard will be given one week of rest before his right hamstring is re-evaluated next Thursday.

That means Roy will miss at least the Blazers' next four games: Tonight in Boston, Saturday in Detroit, and home games Jan. 25 against New Orleans and Jan. 27 against Utah.

Roy flew to from Philadelphia to Seattle with team athletic trainer Jay Jensen on Thursday to receive a second opinion on his strained right hamstring. The consensus out of that meeting was to give Roy a week to recover, then determine a course of action.

Roy's re-evaluation will come on Jan. 28, the same day the team will depart to Houston for a two-game trip against the Rockets (Jan. 29) and Dallas Mavericks (Jan. 30).

Roy missed two games this season with the strained hamstring, then came back and played 18 minutes in the first half Wednesday at Philadelphia. With 1:02 left in the second quarter, Roy made a driving bank shot, but immediately grabbed his hamstring. He was pulled from the game with 20.9 seconds left and did not return.

Roy suffered a strain on the same hamstring last season, which caused him to miss four game

so a course of action? what exactly does that mean for roy? all star break?

This is weird. Of course he'll be out the next 2 games. I still think it's gonna be 2-3 weeks.

It means exactly what it says. They're going to give it a week to heal, then see how it's doing before deciding exactly on a planned date for his return.

Just sit him until he is healthy. We all know that this is a lingering injury and only time heals it. We are all used to missing guys anyway. What's another one.

Roy to have "cutting edge procedure" on hammy today

Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will undergo a cutting-edge, non-surgical technique today in Seattle to treat his strained right hamstring.

Roy will have Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injected into his hamstring, which is designed to stop the bleeding on his hamstring while also releasing growth factors that aid the healing process.

The procedure will be performed in Seattle by team doctors of the Seattle Seahawks, the NFL team that Blazers owner Paul Allen also owns. Roy on Thursday flew from Philadelphia to Seattle to meet with the Seahawks doctors.

PRP includes extracting blood from Roy, then placing it in a centrifuge for 15 minutes, which separates red blood cells from platelets, forming a gel. That gel is injected into the injured area.

Roy will be re-examined on Thursday before the team leaves for a two-game trip with stops in Houston (Jan. 29) and Dallas (Jan. 30). Roy will miss four games before that examination - tonight in Boston, Saturday in Detroit, and home games against New Orleans (Jan. 25) and Utah (Jan. 27).

Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said he is hoping Roy can return in seven-to-10 days, possibly placing his return for the Jan. 29 game at Houston or a Feb. 1 home game against Charlotte.
