why did KP want to give him that massive contract anyways? hedo has the ball exclusively in the fourth quarter in TO and he still has the audacity to complain about his lack of playmaking opportunities but in portland with roy, he would have just been another shooter.

I got nothing against Hedo's pregame diet but if pizza isn't working for him this season he needs to switch it up. Maybe eat some samosas or a big bowl of pho. Fuck I am hungry now.

Wrong! If he was playing in Portland, he'd be injured.

I think the belief was Hedo would help Oden's game develop by running the side pick and roll - like he did with Dwight in Orlando. Of course, with Oden out Hedo would be, as you mentioned, just another shooter. That's why I never understood why Toronto went after him. You already have plenty of soft, jump shooting perimeter players.

I said it last summer when this all went down - Hedo would have been a better fit (but still overpaid) in Portland than in Toronto. Portland had the emerging dominant low post center that could benefit from Hedo's presence. With Bargnani being a jump shooting perimeter oriented center, Hedo in Toronto is redundant. Also, prior to all the injuries, Portland was closer to contending than Toronto. So, it made more sense for the Blazers to overpay Hedo than it did for the Raptors to overpay him by even more.

I still believe that analysis to be accurate - if the Blazers had not suffered so many injuries - especially the loss of Oden who would have benefited most from Hedo's presence. As it is, I'm much happier we "settled" for Andre Miller with his 16.6 (and rising) PER and $14 million total commitment than Hedo and his 13.8 (and falling) PER and $52.8 million commitment.

Now that Nate McMillan is FINALLY using Miller correctly (starting him with Steve Blake coming off the bench), Miller is really playing well. His presence in the starting line-up has helped other players, too. Martell Webster is playing the best ball of his career, and prior to a pesky hamstring injury, Brandon Roy had been playing like a legitimate MVP candidate since Miller was inserted into the starting line-up next to him, much better than he was earlier in the season. And, in the brief time they played together before his injury, Oden and Miller really seemed to be developing a rapport together on the court. Probably because Miller is the only guard on our roster that can effectively feed the ball into the low post and create easy scoring opportunities for our big men.

Sorry to see Hedo isn't working out so well for you in Toronto, but I can't say I didn't see it coming. You would have been better off keeping Marion. He's a better defender and better rebounder than Hedo. Those are two areas where your team is weak. You could have used Marion's skills much more than yet another soft, perimeter oriented, jump shooter who doesn't play defense and is a weak rebounder. You guys got off to a slow start, but are still in contention for a play-off spot in the East. The real question is: will that be enough to keep Chris Bosh, or will you lose him to free agency? If not, four more years and $45 million left on Hedo's contract will make rebuilding VERY difficult.

oden is not dwight. dwight is a mobile big and there is no one like him in professional basketball, conversely, oden is a plodding, conventional centre. and u were totally misconstruing what i said- in portland, turk would have been another shooter because roy would rightfully handle the bulk of the playmaking duties. my point was that in toronto in spite of his mighty workload as the primary ball handler in the fourth quarter, which he's openly campaigned for- he's still a flop.

    Never said he was.

He's a slow, plodding, conventional center who needs someone to feed him the ball in the post. Hedo could have done that better than anyone on the Blazers roster at the time they offered him the contract - prior to the addition of Andre Miller. So, he would have been a valuable asset in the development of Oden's offensive game.

No argument there. Hedo is a flop in Toronto. I agree with you 100%. He's a big, fat pizza eating, cell phone grabbing flop with a 5-year $52.8 contract.

In the end, I'm glad you got him and we didn't.
