Hinrich Playing Himself into a Trade?

We've previously discussed Chicago's willingness to part ways with Kirk Hinrich for expiring contracts, seeing as he's got another $17 million on his contract the next two years, and they're looking to cut more salary for the free-agency market this summer.

But for that kind of price tag, most don't think Hinrich has that kind of value anymore, so he'll be difficult to move.

But might his recent play be changing the tide on that a bit? ESPN's John Hollinger cites Hinrich as one of the reasons Chicago is on their recent 8-5 surge.

"Both Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas have been important cogs in a tough defense that ranks eighth in efficiency, Thomas with his length and shot-blocking and Hinrich with his dogged perimeter defense. But Thomas' play has been particularly impactful: Chicago is 8-5 since he came back from a broken arm and allowed the Bulls to reduce the playing time of an ineffective Brad Miler. As for Hinrich, it helps that he snapped out of a nasty shooting slump in mid-December. He was shooting a ghastly 31.5 percent at the time, but has converted a healthier 42.4 percent since, including 40.3 percent on 3-pointers, which have comprised nearly half of his attempts. Given the dearth of shooting noted above, that has been particularly important. "
