http://content.usatoday.com/communi...-new-coach-chan-gailey-we-got-the-right-guy/1 New Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey said Tuesday that he understands if fans are skeptical that he can turn the franchise into a playoff contender. But he asked for patience as he returned to the NFL after a 10-year layoff from pro head coaching duties. "You can't promise in this league," Gailey said. "There's 31 other teams out there trying to do the same thing as you. "The bottom line is: We've got to do it on the field." The Bills, coming off a 6-10 season and without a playoff berth since 1999, hired Gailey, 58, to replace Dick Jauron, who was fired in November. GM Buddy Nix defended the hiring of Gailey, out of the NFL for most of the 2009 season after he was fired as Chiefs defensive coordinator days before the regular season started. "We got the right guy," Nix said. "Without any doubt in my mind, we got the best-qualified guy. A guy that was on the list early." Gailey went 18-14 as the Cowboys coach in 1998-1999 and served as the Georgia Tech head coach from 2002-2007. He recognized that the Bills' franchise suffered through a decade of losing and coaching turnover, but asked for patience as he attempts to build a winner. "If you don't believe in yourself and don't believe in the people you bring in and the way you're going to run a football team, then you shouldn't be standing up here in the first place," Gailey said. "Everyone one of (the Bills' past coaches) believed in what they were going to do. And I certainly do myself. "When I walk on the field, I expect to win. I don't just hope to win." Nix, 70, installed as the Bills' GM in late December, said reports that the Bills had been spurned by other head-coaching candidates were inaccurate. "I wouldn't have offered a guy without him meeting our owner," Nix said. "The only guy that was invited in here to meet the owner is standing up here now. So that answers the question about how many got offered."
I never heard of this dude and he hasn't been a headcoach in a long time... I don't know about this move.
I loved his attitude in the press conference, and in the 1 on 1 interview he did with Chris Brown coach pursesafterwards. The guy is a winner, and he has a determination the Bills haven't had at HC for a long time. Between him and Buddy Nix the Bills have come up with a HC/GM combination that few would have picked, but with Nix's ability to pick players, and Gailey's ability to generate wins and offensive points these could well be the men to lead us back to the playoffs. ------------- the 2010 nfl draft predicitions
