Hmm, they're going to propose saving a maximum of $250B over 10 years to offset the $9T they've added to the budget? Yeah, I think I'll manage to restrain my excitement.

This announcement is just another tactic, like when Obama cut $100MM when tasked to reduce his $3.2T budget. It's a fucking joke.

Is it not better than nothing at all? Also, if he did 9 or 10 things like this, the savings would then be worth noting.

I think we can all agree that if Manuel Uribe lost a pound or two it would be a good thing. However, he needs to lose another 500 to be close to normal.

There's zero sarcasm intended. The best case scenario over the next 10 years is $250B; the optimistic case is that the Obama Administration will add $9T to Federal Government obligations. By my gorilla math, that equates to less than 2.8%. Everyone has had to tighten their belts. Asking the Federal Government to trim more than that isn't unreasonable.

But that is somewhat my point as well. A series of small steps equals a big step. This is a first small step and all I'm saying is that I hope there are many more small (or large) steps in that direction.

Definitely a celebrity, you can't make everyone happy, just like you can't kill every terrorist or own every oil well. But you can try...

Well, I'm kind of happy. I got to meet "THE" HCP. He's cuter in person than his picture. I wish he wouldn't have been holding that 9mm on me the whole time.:dunno:

I don't understand. Are you upset about this?

Maxiep already summed it up nicely.

This is an attempt to appease those that aren't willing to do any simple math, without actually changing anything about Obama's spending habits.

At least it is a step in the right direct. However, I believe it will be the only step, and it is only done so he can later say he took steps to be "fiscally responsible".

How educational, to read a conversation among 3 Republicans about what is "fiscally responsible." After creating the mess that Obama is stuck solving.

Wanna save big bucks? Pass universal health care. It has no cost, since it would save hundreds of billions each decade over the status quo, according to the neutral GAO.

Ah yes. The ol' stand-bye argument that whatever Obama does is fine, because Bush did something as bad or worse.

    :drumroll:

Perhaps you can provide a better metric. Some people care about the quality/cost ratio.
