As fans are wondering who will be starting in key positions for the US National Team in South Africa, DaMarcus Beasley is getting back into form with Rangers. Its hard to forget how flat out lost he appeared in the first match against Brazil in the Confederations Cup this past summer. He hadn't been playing too well for the US prior to that and hadn't been playing at all for Rangers.

That is, until the last couple of weeks. It started with a start in the Champions' League loss to Sevilla ten days ago. It continued with an assist after 30 seconds in a start against St. Johnstone in league play last Saturday. It really became news after an absolutely absurd goal against Dundee United this past Tuesday. And it continued on today with another goal and another assist against Motherwell.

With needs all over the pitch, the return of Beasley could join Davies' accident and Onyewu's injury as the biggest stories leading up to the World Cup for the US. If he returns, he could factor in the rotation at left back, or play on either side of the midfield, allowing Donovan or Dempsey to start alongside Altidore at forward in Bradley's 4-4-2.

Hopefully there's more to come from Beasley who looked like he forgot how to play the game over the summer and now could be in the best three match stretch of his European career.

More good news from Beasley in Scotland as he tweeted this today:

Looks like Maurice Edu is starting the comeback trail with the Rangers Reserves today. I'll try to find a match report later...assuming I even find out when the match is.

And here's the story from Rangers' website. Edu started and went 80 minutes and apparently played well. According to the story, he was training along with Kirk Broadfoot who was injured before Edu last season. Broadfoot played a half in a reserve match and has played in the last three matches for the senior squad.

As much as I hate Rangers, I like that they seem to be giving the Americans a real shot at playing time and I hope Beasley and Edu can be effective in a losing effort in the January 3rd match against Celtic.

Soccer365 is reporting that Paris Sant-Germain is on the trail of Beasley, who has been hampered recnetly with a hamstring injury. His injury troubles really started with his move to Rangers, so a move out might be good for him. I'm sure the two aren't related, but its worth a shot to get him back in the mix for the national team.
