Really Golden State, all you can get for Monta Ellis is Ray Allen near the end of his career? Why do I sense the NBA has intervened in order to make Boston relevent again? http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/149631-will-celtics-trade-allen-for-ellis?eref=fromSI I would have a really hard time envisioning a situation where another team couldn't make a better offer for the future of the Warriors than that.
Isn't Monta's deal pretty big though? Golden State might be thrilled to get out from it. I personally wouldn't mind jumping into that deal and grabbing a little more vet experience for our team... Ray Allen/Ronny Turiaf to Portland Bayless/Outlaw to Golden State Blake/Ellis to Boston Sure we'd be sacrificing a portion of our future (Bayless) but it'd make us much better for the remainder of this year, and thin out our team a little, adding a couple of healthy pieces that we could really use. Allen is a better PG than Blake really and adds an incredible amount of IQ and Turiaf would bring a lot of toughness, size, and energy. It'd be much better if we could grab a pick out of the situation, but if not it wouldn't be the end of the world. Bayless lovers will hate it, but I bet Nate wouldn't. Miller/Batum/Mills Roy/Allen Webster/Fernandez Aldridge/Howard Pendergraph/Turiaf In reality Roy would see a few minutes at 1 (with Allen or Rudy next to him at 2) and Batum would obviously play some 1 and 3, but I like that heady backcourt a lot (even if it is slightly undersized).
He is. But I hardly envision the Warriors as a team cutting guys loose just for salary purposes, if that is where you are going. The only guys making any money on that team are Ellis, Magette and maybe Biedrins. Almost everybody else on the roster is either draft picks, undrafted, or NBDL call ups.
Yeah, he's expiring but that's not a good thing for the warriors since they won't be able to sign anyone with the money anyway. His contract is fairly large but I wouldn't necessarily say he is overpaid. He's one of the better young 2s out there and he's got a flat contract for 11M/yr. He'll be a bargain by the end of that deal. As far as the Ws adding in Turiaf and getting back Bayless and Outlaw, that's even worse than the first deal, which isn't good. Then again, it's the Warriors so they may actually think it's close to fair. I still think that Ellis would be a great fit on the Blazers next to Roy. He can guard the 1 but Roy can run the offense. This season he's had to shoot more but Ellis can be very effective without many plays being run for him.
