Or, will he? If last game was any indication, I think he'll be starting soon after the AS-Break. From what I've seen, Martell's (lack of) confidence is no longer a factor, so there should be no reason as to why he couldn't become an off-the-bench energizer alongside Rudy. I think Nic can become another Iggy-type.....who, BTW, played wonderfully alongside Andre in Philly.
I would assume he is not starting because he is coming back from injury and Nate wants to work him in. I can only assume that Nate does the same thing to Roy because if not, there is no need to bring Nic off the bench. He, like Roy, is just better than the other people playing his possition.
I hope not, because I think Iggy blows ass for a player. Quite over rated. I am hoping for more of a Prince type.
I think he should start as soon as he's 100%. But that's up to Nate, so who knows. Still, with Nic back, our SF situation is more crowded, and Outlaw's not even in the picture yet. With Nic, Webster, Outlaw, Bayless, Roy, and Rudy, our logjam at the 2/3 is going to be crazy. Seems like a 2 or 3 should be moved for a 4 or 5 if KP can find the right deal.
I hope he makes it before Roy comes back. I'd like to see a couple of games with Miller/Webster/Batum on the starting unit.
when pigs fly first class! Okay, maybe that's not the best example- but I think he's got to show he's better than Webster before he starts.
PG-Andre SG-Martell SF-Nic PF-LA C-Juwan This is what Mike Rice suggested we go with until Brandon comes back. I am inclined to agree with him.
I really don't care about starting. What I do care about, is the fact that when Roy comes back he shouldn't have to play SF anymore.
Martell has had a great year, even a better month. I doubt he loses his starting job just because Nic is healthy now. That is not Nate's style.
Roy will start when he comes back. Roy has been out for 2 weeks, Batum was out for 3 months. Batum isn't in game shape yet so obviously he won't start for some time.
Well for Roy it isn't an issue. He plays SG, and he is the best SG, so he gets the bulk of the time at his given position. Rudy and Bayless are going to have problems getting playing time as long as Nate is coach and Blake is on the roster. If I was doing it, those two would get all of the backup minutes. But I am not, and what I stated the sentence before about Nate and Blake, is reality that I have come to accept until something changes.
Your post makes no sense. As some of us have said all year, you start your best players. If Batum isn't in game shape, then start him and play him 5-6 minutes and then sit him on the bench. That's when Nate's substitution patterns rear their ugly head anyway. This teams players need to know their roles. When a player comes back from injury, and they are cleared to play then play them in the role they should be in.
Nic's cardio should be fine as it was a shoulder and he is supposed to have been working out for some time. If the injury proves stable and behind him, I expect that he'll be the starting SF shortly as he's simply their best option... I'm really looking forward to him teaming up with Roy Bayless and Rudy STOMP
I really want to see Bayless/Batum together. Even though it was just one time, that pass to Batum was a thing of beauty against the Hornets. More Bayless, more Batum please, thanks.
