Magic and always Magic...Played his entire career with the Lakers, didnt get in major trouble with the law, and never threatened to leave for the Clippers Kobe is a fucking asshole, unloyal bitch....he just plays great bball for my team
I agree. But it's so fantastic bball that if he keeps winning titles, he will earn the number 1 spot in almost everyone's list.
Kobe didn't received the attention and the hype that was given to Magic Johnson just because he just came out straight from high school unlike Magic. Magic Johnson was more popular due to the dramatic rivalry he had with Larry Bird during their NCAA careers. Magic was given the starter's role when he debuts in the NBA unlike the role given to Kobe when started playing in the NBA. In fact, he was drafted by Charlotte Hornets and was traded in exchange for, I think it was Elden Campbell. But I will take Magic as the no. 1 because he's loved by everybody unless you're Celtics fan. Magic didn't have any troubles, issues or feuds with his teammates except for the HIV/AIDS issue.
Do you guys think that Kobe will ever be able to grab that 1 spot from Magic in the eyes of those "analysts"?
If it's OK to pick guys who played several seasons for the Lakers but not their entire careers, then my list would be: 1. Chamberlain 2. Kareem 3. Magic 4. West 5. Shaq 6. Kobe 7. Baylor 8. Worthy 9. Gasol 10. Goodrich If it's based on tenure: 1. Magic 2. West 3. Kareem 4. Wilt 5. Worthy 6. Shaq 7. Kobe 8. Baylor 9. Goodrich 10. Gasol
Denny, I think you're seriously overlooking Kobe and his time here with the Lakers. If it's during their tenure, i'd put him ahead of Shaq, Wilt (he was nothing but a stat-padder when he got here tbh), Worthy and Kareem. Maaaaaybe West, but the arguement can be made. The only person I'd truly put ahead clear-cut would be Magic.
Shaq won 3 championships, then went to Miami and scored another. He came close in Orlando, too. I think you guys underestimate Jerry West. The man is THE LOGO.
