Warriors went real small last night with a 3 guard lineup. How did you feel about it? Ellis-Curry-Watson-Maggette-Biedrins
I thought it was crap. In fact, when I saw it during the pregame, I said out loud (sometimes my wife wonders who I'm talking to during Warriors games) "Nellie's an idiot." Watching Maggette guard David West is gimmicky and stupid. I don't care if it works on certain trips down the court, over the long haul, that philosophy is just plain faulty. I'd prefer: Curry Monta Mags (ugh) Tolliver Beans
He used Watson as a small forward last time when we face New Orleans too. I guess he likes the matchup.
It's an awful lineup. The two games Maggette has played back at the 4 have reverted him back to "bad" Maggette.
I've said it a few times now, but I think CJs minutes are tied directly to the trade deadline. If he gets moved, then I his minutes were well deserved. If he doesn't get traded, then I expect Nelly to move him back to the end of the bench.
If we use a 3 guard lineup it just returns us to our age old problem of being unable to rebound, defend, and do anything outside of transition offense. Transition offense requires that we burn up more energy trying to force turnovers because we don't rebound very dominantly nor do we defend against taller shooters very well. Then while using up all this energy, we die in the second half of the game. I hate it. I want what Charlotte is doing. They're playing D and they're controlling the tempo by slowing it down. We don't know how to slow it down. The Warriors probably don't even use playsets. It's whoever is open shoots it, so if we're not hitting, the opposing defense doesn't mind staying at home in the paint. We have to balance our offense more and the way we dictate the tempo. Our best solution can't be to go smaller every single time...
