Donovan, on a 10-week loan from Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy, scored in the 19th minute at Goodison Park with a left-footed shot off a headed pass from Tim Cahill. Cahill put Everton ahead with a sixth-minute header at Goodison Park. Donovan has signed a new contract with the Galaxy through 2013 and is scheduled to rejoin the team for its March 27 league opener, but a MLS work stoppage could start next week and prompt Donovan to try to extend the loan. I hope this is the right team to post this in, and its not really noteworthy, but its nice to see that he can play in the big leagues.
I wouldn't call it "not really noteworthy." I was always under the impression that people thought less of Donovan because he never felt a need to leave MLS and prove himself elsewhere. Now he walks in to a team in the top half of the table in the self-proclaimed best league in the world, starts and does well against Arsenal four days after getting there and has continued to do well since then. I'm hoping that illogical critique will stop.
