Its like throwing out our trash, for their borderline allstar.... at least put Bayless in there

Honestly, I could get behind #4. The others? Not so much.

Why is Rudy trash and Bayless isn't. They have Lou Williams and Jrue Holliday at the point. Throwing them a 3rd PG doesn't make a ton of sense. Rudy seems to make more sense in the deal. For them and us.

Now I <3 Nic, but I'd most definitely trade him for Iggy.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Iguodala at point guard. That struck me as an odd thought, because my image of him was purely a wing...a 2/3. So I decided to see what basketball-reference had to say and his Assist Rate is actually pretty impressive. A bit below Brandon Roy, but consistently 20+. Definitely not "pure point guard" territory, but perhaps enough distributing to play point alongside a distributor like Roy.

Now that would really intrigue me. Giving up, say, Bayless, Rudy, Przybilla and either Outlaw or Webster for Iguodala and Dalembert.

It allows for a lot of interesting perimeters:

    Iguodala/Roy/Batum [the hopeful long-term solution]
    Miller/Roy/Iguodala
    Batum/Roy/Iguodala
    Miller/Iguodala/Batum [a running lineup]

This would be a "consolidation trade" I could definitely get excited about.

With all these trade talks involving the 76ers dumping salary, why doesn't Elton Brand's name get mentioned? He has a longer, much bigger contract (three more years after this one at a total of $51 million) than Dalembert (one more year at less than $13 million). And he doesn't even start. It seems like if Philadelphia's goal is to dump salary, it would be Brand, not Dalembert, packaged with Iguodala.

So, I think the key to anyone getting Iguodala would be the willingness to also take on Brand's enormous contract. Would the Blazers be willing to do that? Brand would give them the inside muscle they lack at the 4, but he's seriously overpaid, and will continue to be for three more years. Do the Blazers even have enough contracts to trade to match Iguodala's and Brand's salaries?

I like the thought of a starting unit that consisted of Iggy/Roy/Batum.

Because he's the worst contract in the NBA. I doubt the Wizards would trade Arenas for him right now.

I'm looking at this from Philadelphia's point of view - which is exactly why they'd want to get rid of Brand. If I was their GM, I wouldn't entertain offers for Iguodala, unless Brand was also part of the package. Iguodala is too good to just give up to dump his salary. You only give him away of you can also dump at lot of additional salary - and that's where Brand comes in.

I don't think they'll give him away. I think they'll want one or two interesting young players and someone to take Dalmebert (overpriced but still somewhat useful, so not dead weight for the acquiring team).

They probably consider Brand's deal unmovable. I doubt even Paul Allen would authorize taking on that albatross.

getting iggy is what we need. a legit 2nd scorer who can create his own shot.

a lineup of miller, roy, iggy, la, oden is pretty scary.

sure we would have to move a few fan faves like rudy, webster, batum or bayless but im on board. sooner or later kp has to decide who is part of this core that we all expect to contend.
cant just keep saying it every year... time to act on it. iggy would be what we need. too bad we couldnt find a way to include dalemburt

Big question is if Brandon would want it. I think he really wants to be the main man and have no one in his way.

if you like #4, whats your issue with choice #2? Personally I'd rather have Jerryd then not.
me too! Portland would have a hell of a defensive squad. Defense creates turnovers and man could that lineup get out on the break.

btw... I saw no article linked. Did Bucher mention any players or is he just stirring the pot?

Would love to get him. Unlike most, I would be willing to give up one Rudy, Bayless, or Batum to get him. I will take a proven scorer over potential, I think.

It's pretty tough to see how to include Brand in this deal without wiping out our roster. We just don't have enough contracts to do it on guys we'd really want to trade.

If I'm Philly, I'd only trade my hot young stud if I were going to get hot studs in exchange. This works:

We give up Fernandez and Bayless. Really, if we have Miller, Iguadala, Roy, Batum and Webster, with projects in Cunningham and Mills, do we really need those two?
