Even though I like Bayless a lot and think he will be better overall than Rudy (just my opinion, no one hunt me down please), I would deal him as well if Toronto would prefer him over Rudy. I would try and explore trading Aldridge with Rudy first, however. Who knows though.
Toronto already has the more effective version of Jerryd in Jarret Jack (man, I can't believe I just had to say that)
Well he is a little more experienced too. Toronto does have there own versions of both Rudy and Jerryd, though (Bellineli and Jack).
Bellineli is not a starting SG. Put Rudy in Toronto, well, just get him away from Brandon and he's a staring SG on a lot of teams.
Okay, I understand that. But even if Rudy ended up in Toronto would he as well start over who they probably value a lot in DeRozan? He may be better than DeRozan, but that doesn't mean he is automatically the stater. Also, what does starting have to do with how similar each are? They are similar from what I can tell, can shoot the 3, make the flashy pass, probably etc.
Me neither. And furthermore . . . if that is Jerryd's ceiling, get him out of here while he has value. Nothing against Jack - he always played hard here. But his game has more holes than a wiffle ball.
clearing up a few things here 1) LMA is not a BYC YET. He will be on July 1. According to Storyteller's site, he is not BYC until 2010/11 http://www.storytellerscontracts.com/ 2) You do not throw away players of LMA's or Rudy's talent level, so yes, you need assurances Bosh will not bolt. So you sign him to an extension before the trade is finalized. Minstrel's logic is spot on IMHO. Portland has the talent and the ability to go farther in the playoff's than Miami can right now. Although that can change. Winning draws players. Portland can offer that. We have an upside. If Bosh opt's out, he gets a smaller check long term guarentee wise due to not having Bird rights so... LMA and Rudy? Where do I sign.... Toronto gets a steady already signed player + a decent SG who can shoot the rock, all for a player they may not get anything for LMA's big contract would be no worse than Bosh's next one. Bosh's will probably be smaller due to max contract calcs in a declining salary era.
However, LMA is a "Poison Pill Player" this year. For trades, you still have to treat him like a BYC (although slightly differently - not much in LMA case).
