like him or not, we will be hearing his name for many years. Personally I like him. Amazing game. Congratulations andre.
I just posted this to the game thread and then I saw this new thread: In efficiency points (ESPN definition, not NBA.com definition), Miller's game tonight was the 3rd best of the season. Only LeBron and Jennings had better games. http://espn.go.com/nba/gameleaders That hasn't updated yet, but Miller had 76.7 points tonight, according to http://espn.go.com/nba/dailyleaders/_/gameId/300130006
I think Miller scored the most points ever by a Blazer with the fewest # of games as a Blazer. Petrie was in his 3rd year, Drexler in his 5th or 6th, Damon in his..um...7th? and Brandon in his 3rd. This was Andres what, 48th game?
Yes Miller had a fantastic game. He's definately capable of having such games, he's an middle-upper tier NBA point guard with excellent mid-range shooting ability and above-average penetration. That being said, with everyone on this team healthy, he's still by far, at best, the 4th best player on the team, and doesn't play the type of game that compliments Brandon Roy, the team's #1 player, to the fullest extent. Yes, Miller could probably adapt, given enough time, but he's old, and slowing down. This game changes none of my opinions. This season is still a wash in my eyes. Everything the Blazers can and will accomplish this year is gravy, the real "championship window" begins next year, as has always been the case.
Not to take away anything from Miller's amazing accomplishment, but if I'm a Mavs fan I'd be utterly enraged. You just don't see 10 year guys with a career high of 38 go off for 52. Barea, Kidd and Terry ought to donate their paychecks tonight to charity, because they didn't earn them.
How ya doing, Chris. Long time no see. Only if Oden stays healthy the whole year, which is less probable with Przybilla missing the first half of the season, and never returning to full form thereafter due to increasing age. We have no chance at a championship without a center and without a tough PF who bangs into people. It will take a change within Pritchard's head to re-form this team and I don't think Pritchard has the mental wherewithall. So I think we'll be good but not win a championship.
But, not everyone on this team is healthy. Absolutely fucking AWESOME!!!! If our 4th best player can score 52 points in a must win game on the road against a 1st place team we are destined to be a dynasty. Is that you Canzano? "Miller doesn't fit with Portland. He'll never fit. You know it. I know it. The Blazers players know it." Don't believe everything you read. Prior to Roy's hamstring injury he was playing at near MVP level, starting and playing big minutes with Andre Miller. Roy was playing much better in late December and January with Miller starting than he was in November and early December with Blake starting. The whole Miller and Roy can't co-exist mantra was a total fabrication that was considered as an accepted fact by many before it was ever given a chance. Once given a chance, it was exposed for the fallacy that it always was. Well then you're still wrong. But hey, way to stick to your guns. BNM
