I guess it depends on how you interpret this news. I'd trade Monta for Ray Allen if it will get it done. Larry Ellison, the Oracle CEO, was rebuffed in his bid to buy the Warriors. Owner Chris Cohan wants $400 million and isn't taking a dime less, as Ellison found out after his offer of $310 million was rejected. Didn't Ellison know that only two seasons ago, Cohan turned down an offer of $350 million from a Bay Area group? http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...1-30_wizards_gilbert_arenas_nba_contract.html
Ummmm doesn't Cohan know that his terrible staff have since demolished that heavily celebrated winning squad from two years ago AND that the economy has taken a dive?

The estimated value of the Warriors is $315 Million by Forbes. The value of the team dropped since that $350 Million Offer. Cohan can either take the deal and try to deal with his taxes this year, or sell and pull himself out of potential bankruptcy.
Cohan is a fool. This is the best he's gonna get. Ellison has nothing to lose and everything to gain by waiting this out.
*tim kawakami hat Sources say that Cohan refuses to sell and for Ellison, it isn't a matter of price. It's just that Cohan won't sell him the team, period.
I think it will be in 2017. The agreement was for ten years and it was signed in October of 2006. This should not have anything to do with the negotiations because I don't think Cohan or any ownership gets the money from the naming of the arena. Of course if Ellison became the Warriors owner, then he may get a better deal from the Coliseum for other considerations. EDIT: If Monta does get traded for peanuts before the trading deadline, then there better be a deal in place for Larry to become the new owner .
Well, look, I don't buy the "not a penny less" thing, this is big business and the negotiations always go like this. If they meet half way at $355M, that's probably about right. I think the team's assessed value a year or two ago was something like $320M, so Ellison would be paying a bit of a premium, but not that much. Sure, he could wait it out and see what happens, but Cohan has held on for 15 years, you have to sweeten the pot a little if you want to get him out fast.
Cohan has the right to ask whatever he wants; its up to Ellison to see if that price is worth it to him. Basic economics. Does not matter what Forbes or anyone else values the team at. Of course, that means you keep the team too. Who knows if Ellison is Dan Snyder or Jerry Buss or more Paul Allen (ideal) as an owner? We all know what Cohan is about and any change is better than none. Cohan is not defined by Nellie, or Mully, or anyone else, no he will be defined by ...giving Rowell (non-basketball man) the presidency.
I hope this moves forward because anything is better than Cohan and co. Plus, if it's Ellison, that puts the dubs in contention with the type of money the Blazers are backed by (Well Ellison is still something like top 3 above Allen in richest in the world). Plus, Ellison's monstrous ego will dictate that we will make the playoffs more times than not during his tenure. Cohan's reign is so sad, we consider making one playoff appearance a fluke. Did we ever build on that success? Heck no. Typical warriors style attributed to lack of vision and caring what happens on the court. Cohan is such a f'n p, that he won't even attend games unless the attention can be pulled away from him such as in the 'we believe' season. He knows he'll get his ass booed by us if we recognize him or even see him up in the luxury boxes. We'll be like F-Cohan! on live tv.
Yeah -- Cohan seems like the most dislikeable owner in the history of pro sports, and I don't even know the guy personally...
Nothing Really New Here... But I thought I'd post anyway http://www.nba.com/2010/news/features/02/10/aldridge.bloggers/
