So is it my imagination, or is Pendergraph better against bigger slower guys and Cunningham for slightly smaller quicker guys?
well they are different sized guys http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre...age=&year=2009&sort2=ASC&draft=0&pos=0&sort=1 STOMP
Nope, not your imagination. I love Jeff "Lunch Bucket" Pendergraph's muscle and attitude, but Dante "Better than anyone thought he'd be" Cunningham (well, except for the guy with his screen name, LOL) is the better basketball player.
I like JP in the future. I see him as a Dale Davis type of player. Though, I think both have a place on this team long-term. Our second unit pushes the tempo and usually goes small. C: Pendergraph PF: Cunningham
the Bob's best player is Wallace and Portland's best match for his size and physicality is Cunningham. Their Bigs weren't able to get Howard and LA into foul trouble and they went small often so Pendergraph wasn't needed. STOMP
1.75" by the link I provided... thats pretty significant JP can guard 4s and 5s DC can gaurd 3s and 4s STOMP

I see Pendergraph eventually as a power player that will cover backup 4s and 5s, DC seems more like a classic tweener, but who has a enough smarts to cover some 3s and does a credible job on backup 4s. Some other things to note. DC is a really good help and pick and roll defender -- I mean for a rookie it's absolutely fantastic defense. Pendergraph brings a whole lot of energy to the court, but he's pretty far behind DC in terms of defensive awareness in the NBA game; he still looks like the game hasn't slowed down for him. In either case I think both are fantastic 9th and 10th men to have on a team long term. Neither expects to score, neither needs touches or rhythm to be effective; they just come in off the bench and provide energy, rebounding and defense, with their offense as the cherry on top. Give it another two years and both are going to be very solid NBA players -- not stars, but solid, solid reserves that bring it almost every night.
I don't think the listings on the NBA site and various sports sites are based on actual measurements. They're just the numbers the team/player submit for their listings and are notorious for being well off. The various combine links are by far the more accurate listings to site. STOMP
Right now, DC is well ahead on the developmental curve. If Pendergraph can stay healthy, he is probably the better long-term prospect.
I gotta give KP and his crew credit for drafting these guys. I never would have imagined they'd be as good as they are as rookies.
