Would have liked to see Aaron Brooks here.

You can't go wrong with either player here. Chauncy has the Nuggets up near the top of the conference though, so I give him the edge.

I hope David Lee replaces Pierce. That guy deserves it.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
If Brooks played all his games against Portland, I'd agree. As it stands, Billups is a far, far better player than Brooks. On both sides of the ball.

Not a break, just a sprain.

It'll be him or Josh Smith, who probably is the Hawk who deserves it the most (or at least more than Horford).

I'm not at all surprised that Billups was the replacement for Paul, I actually pretty much expected it. Brooks is good though, it's just hard because there are so many talented PG's in the West.

No I agree Billups is better, his pedigree absolutely destroys most PG when you look at it. Confernce Finals 7 years in a row. Finals MVP. Championship.

But I did see more than one NBATV analyst that had him on their list of reserves, so he must play pretty well outside of games against Portland. I don't know if you saw the other night he busted out 42 or something like that against some team.

Brooks is not really having an all-star caliber season. His PER is 16.1. That is barely above league average.

Oh yea. The same PERS rankings that has Luke Ridnour in front of Baron Davis. And Sergio Rodriquez in front of Derek Rose.

    How about some real numbers.

19 points and 5 assist per game. 43% from the field, 39% from 3 point land.

    Those are some solid numbers.

Now look at Billups. 19 and 6. .418 from the field, but .416 from 3 point land. He plays better defense as well.

But really, are their numbers that much different?

and 3 turnovers per game ... I'm not bagging on the guy, I just don't think he's been all that efficient.

First off, it's PER. Secondly, those are only saying that those players are more efficient in the minutes they play. Of course they're not better players and not having better seasons (they only play 22 and 13 minutes per game, respectively). If you're looking for that, check out Hollinger's VA (value added), which takes into account the total minutes a player has played:
