Pac-10, on ESPN's rankings, have 6 teams in the top 25. USC, Stanford, UCLA, Cal, Washington, Oregon. Impressive.

Hmmm, Ohio State released their list of signees already, leaving off Henderson. Could be a good sign for USC.

Damn, Dietrich Riley to UCLA, instead of USC. Though we've gotten some good selections, am disappointed in some of the misses so far today.

    Reminds me of Haloti Ngata.

Top recruit from Utah who was rumored to be going to a Nebraska or Ohio State or Michigan. He picked Oregon and if I recall right a big part of it was because the Ducks coaching staff supported and encouraged the idea of Ngata doing a religious mission before or during his college football career.

In case anyone doesn't know: Ngata is a pro-bowler this year.

yeah and Hamani Stevens being supported with his decision to go on a mission last year. I'm sure that is a big thing with them selecting Oregon. I remember Ngata was going to go on a mission, but didnt end up doing so for some reason.

What an idiot picking UCLA. Nebraska would've made plenty of sense, but UCLA? You'd think he might've learned a lesson seeing the devastation Slick Rick left behind at CU and UW.

Hope he likes LA because he won't be welcome in Oregon.

that Oregon has a history of supporting Mormon kids going on missions (recently Asper & Bair) was supposed to be big with Ricky. Considering that lots of Samoans are LDS is reason enough to cultivate that reputation. There isn't a guarantee that the guys gone 2 years on a LDS mission will come back to the program, but odds are they do return likely improved/matured both physically and mentally

And you do realize that Owa was probably like 6 and 10 when Rick left those schools respective programs right?

Sure, but given the importance of a head coach, I'd like to think he did a little dilly before signing.

This reminds me of Kevin Love. When UCLA played the Ducks at the Pit he got death threats. He and his family including Kevin's disabled brother got obscene chants shouted at them. Do you think maybe people leave Oregon because of small minded, provincial bigots like you?

    :sigh:

I grew up in Oregon, went to OSU for undergrad and UCLA for grad. I chose to live here after school, although part of it is there's no jobs for people with my education in Oregon because there's no support for industry. I can say this: He's going to a great school. A great community. And it's his choice. Grow the fuck up.

    Sheesh. Drama queen much?

I'm a provincial bigot? That's ridiculous, it's actually pretty funny how far off you are. You're the one that needs to grow up. Stop reading too much into things and hop off your high horse there, cowgirl. Over-reactive idiots drive me absolutely crazy.

When he returns to Oregon to play, I won't cheer him, won't congratulate him, but the Kevin Love stuff is a long ways from my way of operating. Once his playing days are done (could be 4 years from now, could be after a long NFL career, who knows?) he'll probably find it harder to get a job in Oregon than if he stayed in state. That's the sum total of what I was thinking.

Now maybe go find a real cause and throw your effort thataway.
